Nana Sushi in Downtown Norfolk

Nana Sushi is on Granby street in Norfolk, near Chrysler Hall.

I'm scheduling this for early in the evening so they are more likely to be able to fit us in.  It should also allow enough time for anyone in Hampton Roads Over 45 Singles to make it to the Generic Theater for their 7:30PM show.  But you don't have to go to that to join us for dinner!

Hope to see everyone there!

I have been there then, and you are right, the food is fabulous. It was the first time I tried fried cheesecake! It was small though as I recall but if Tim calls and we made a reservation I'm sure they would arrange the tables to accommodate us. See everyone Sunday at Nara, but hope to try this place soon as well.

Nara is awesome, maybe just one small step behind Kyushu. A little pricier, if my memory serves me correctly, but still worth it. Kyushu is very close to my house so I can be a runner for Tim if needed.

The sushi was fine, but I thought the prices were on the high side. I could've gotten the identical entree @ Kyushu on Newtown Rd. for $5 less. Hey, now that Kyushu JUST finished its renovations last week & is TWICE the size, maybe we could try there! I go there for lunch @ least 2 times/month.

How big a group do you think it could handle? I can set something up and limit the attendance to something the place can handle.

Yes it is, Michele. I haven't seen inside it yet since they've reopened, but I'll drop by & let you know. If we had as large a group as we did @ Nana in their old place, we would've taken up most of the dining area with only room for other patrons to sit @ the sushi bar. But they told me their space would @ least double.

The sake prices were super (Happy Hour) and the food was ok but overpriced. It's fun to go to different places, although I prefer the smaller ones that are a bit quainter, and the sushi is outstanding, too..kinda like a great double feature :)

Going to Kyushu sounds like a good idea..I've never been so if the sushi is great and the prices are reasonable, I vote we give it a try.

On something completely different.... Is there a parking lot near the restaurant?

    February 2, 2013

    • Tim H.

There is a little bit of street parking, but you're lucky if you can get into one of those. More likely you'll need to park in one of the parking garages nearby. I think they are run by the city of Norfolk. I know there is one at Charlotte and Monticello that should be convenient if you are going to the play after. If not I think there is one a little closer to the restaurant at Freemason and Bousch. There may be something else, since I'm not that familiar with downtown parking.

      Closest garage is on freemason

Ellen... look what you got started with the bells! We should have that as the price if admission for sushi Sat. night!

    • Ellen

I hate to start something I can't finish...but I don't own any bells. But everyone else should feel free too wear theirs!!

Unless something unplanned comes up, I think we are all going to be there with bells on!

Reservations have been made. If your plans are going to change, please update your RSVP as soon as you know so I let let the restaurant know if the head count changes. Don't be a "No Show"! Thanks.

Attractive, maybe....but I think bells on a Viking sound pretty entertaining! (No pun intended)

      Actually, I think Donna's got an idea..."if everyone wears a bell".... :)

If I wear bells on my toes, I won't be able to get my shoes on. I'll wear ONE bell...
