This is a big month for us. First, we have the 5th annual Silicon Valley Code Camp coming up on October 9th and 10th. Kevin Nilson and I are part of the organizing team for code camp. We have more sessions than ever before submitted this year. There will be 20+ simultaneous sessions running all weekend long at Foothill College. It is not too late to register for arguably the biggest and best free developer community weekend event here in the bay area:

There will be separate reminders later about the James Gosling talk at our October JUG meeting. However, I wanted to call that out early.
