GIVE AWAY
limited number of Android devices to give away (50+) of various types. mostly PC-on-a-stick type devices and desktop development platforms pre-loaded with Android and the gator kernel module that allow for Native profiling of software with ARM's free Eclipse plugin, DS-5 Community Edition<http://www.arm.com/products/tools/software-tools/ds-5/community-edition/index.php>.
If you were able to use the devices we gave away to do any application profiling (or have any questions about doing so), I'd like to hear your stories. If you found DS-5 Community Edition or Streamline useful, we'd be happy to write up a case study about your product and share it on arm.com! Thanks again.

Thanks Matt. According to Bit9, there are 290k apps in Google play, which are vulnerable to security flaws. What can be done at instruction level (as NEO for media ) to make sure the thread executions are safe and trustworthy. x86 has security related instructions. I know iOS has many kernel protections. Solution can come from Android side as well . From ARM, it would apply to all OS platforms. I just wanted to bring it up to the attention of the community.

I received lots of great, critical feedback on my presentation from the meetup and TechCon show floor theater. I've posted my slides here:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=...![]()
And opened a discussion forum here:

If you'd like more information on some of my presentation topics, my corner of the ARM webspace is here: arm.com/solution-center-android
Thanks for the opportunity to speak. I'm very sorry we did not have enough budget to purchase devices for everyone. I hope that if you utilize the Streamline tool with the devices we shared (or your own device running Gator.ko), we generate case studies on your findings and make a case to purchase more for the next SVAndroid event we share at.
On behalf of Havok, Samsung and ARM. Thank you all!

The announcement lists various "Android devices to give away", but I only saw the PC-on-a-stick.

Today's event started bit late, but all talks were excellent. I really liked Havok's gaming talk on Android and Matt's talk on using ARM NDK/NEO on Android. We had lot of learning in short period. Food/drink choices were excellent. Thanks to all sponsors and organizers.

I'll have 40 devices (in addition to the Samsung/Arndale boards) to share at the meetup and another 40 to distribute on the show floor at TechCon on Wednesday and Thursday. Looking at the meetup RSVP numbers, I suspect there will be high demand so please send me your requests ahead of time at [masked]. Share your performance analysis needs. I'll also be in the ARM booth with the Arndale board running our tools and monitoring Samsung's developer forum after the meetup.

Hi Android developers. I'm an iOS developer here in San Jose with a successful iOS app (over 100,000 downloads and growing) that needs an Android version. I apologize for the unconventional approach of my request -- let me explain: I'm approaching developers in this way because, as I said, I myself live in San Jose and would like to work closely with the developer throughout the process. I've approached large development companies about this project but they all prefer payment upfront and outsourcing the actual work to other countries. This is not in line with my vision. So what do I want? I would like an android developer who is willing to work with me in creating this app and share all the generated revenue, essentially becoming part of our team. I am currently one of a team of two. I know this feels like a risk (not being paid by the hour for the work) but I assure you that $ will be made on the final product and you will not regret investing your time. If you're interested please let me know and we can ar

Thanks Akshay! We're happy to see the Arndale picked up by engadget:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10...
and excited to see what the SVAndroid and greater Android developer community can do with the Exynos 5.
We know the boards you're giving away are going to be targeted at devs that will push the systems to their potential. Those in attendance that don't receive the Arndale but still interested in performance tuning with DS-5 CE from ARM, we're going to share a limited number of pc-on-a-stick devices with the Gator kernel module pre-loaded. If you think you could use a different class, dual Cortex-A9, Mali 400 ICS, gator enabled HDMI dongle please share your project and email address with me at this meetup or at TechCon. We're happy to help you profile your apps and use Samsung developer board. If we find we can help performance tune your app we'd like to share your story as a case study, blog post or even developer conference demo.
