Join us for the Stavanger Ruby User Group's first meeting!

  • March 12, 2013 · 7:00 PM

Ruby has turned 2.0! Stavanger is long overdue for a formal group to bring together the great energy among ruby enthusiasts in and around this great city.

And thanks to Oktan for generously opening their doors to us, and for providing pizza at the break.

The doors will be open at 19:00.  There is parking next to the Stavanger Kulturehus, next door.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Impressive turnout, and an interesting group of individuals. It was good to see people offering assistance exchanging contact information. If you don't have ruby installed on your computer, give it a try. A special thanks goes to Nick Merrigan and Oktan Stavanger for use of their space and for the pizza. The loft-style environment is fresh air in comparison to most day job work spaces. Here are all the links that were on-screen by the end of the evening:

We need at least two of you to show us what you're working on. It can be a mini-workshop format, teaching us how to get started with something new. Or just giving pointers, like on ruby environment set-up.

Yes, thank you all, it was a very nice introduction to Ruby. We could start groups within the group, and present solutions for the next meeting.

My project would be "Conan the Librarian".
I have 3 (or 4) different types of libraries I would like to build.

Add me on skype if you think this would be of interest.

Hi, I am totally new to Ruby as well, and my main quest is to find out how Ruby / Ruby on Rails would integrate with a CMS like Drupal running different services

I think I will join this event today, and expand my braincells functions on the subject

Hi Roar, bring it up at the meetup and we can all try to tackle it. Find out about how Drupal is able to interface with external applications. It probably supports REST and JSON messaging.

And that is the core reason we are doing this. As we build a community we will inspire one another to advance and try new things.

    are bloody newbies welcome?

    March 5, 2013

    • Joe C.

For sure. Newbies are welcome. We will see who shows up. It would be great to have a couple of 'tracks', where newbs get some positive assistance and the experienced get positively challenged.
