JavaFX 3D

Introduction to the 3D features in JavaFX 8.0: including meshes, lights, materials, textures, perspective camera node, and picking."

About the Speaker

John Yoon

John is a member of the JavaFX team. John studied animation at the UCLA Film School, where he received his Master of Fine Arts in Animation/Film. Prior to working at Oracle, John worked in the animation industry as a Character Technical Director at Disney Animation and DreamWorks Animation on such films as "Chicken Little", "Meet the Robinsons", "Shrek Forever After", and "How to Train Your Dragon".

  Eric, what would you like to see in future presentations of JavaFX 3D? While dragons, ogres, or cartoon characters are not in our demo plans, we may take a look at bringing Duke back to life in some form or another later this year. :-)

  Lou Dasaro was the first to get back to me, not very long after I sent thing out, so lou, congratulations. You should get a mail with a license from IDEA in a week or two. It takes them a while to validate the requests for some reason.

Some people were asking where you can download JavaFX 3D from: we currently only have a Windows implementation (Mac OS X will be next). As with all JavaFX 8 planned features, 3D is part of the JDK 8 Early Access weekly builds available at http://jdk8.java.net/download.h...

What about parking? Where are we allowed to park? I see that there are parking lots all over the place, but which ones are visitors allowed to park in?
