Topic update: The Silicon Valley MySQL February Meetup: ScaleDB

From: user 2.
Sent on: Tuesday, January 27, 2009 12:38 PM
The topic for the February Meetup is ScaleDB.

Mike Hogan, CEO of ScaleDB will present ScaleDB?s new storage engine for MySQL, which provides shared-disk clustering (? la Oracle RAC), and multi-table indexing. After the presentation, we will have an open Q&A period where Mike and CTO Moshe Shadmon will be available to answer your hard hitting questions.

ScaleDB is a storage engine for MySQL that delivers shared-disk clustering, similar to high-end closed-source databases like Oracle RAC, IBM DB/2 (mainframe only), IBM IMS and Sybase ASE CE. The shared-disk architecture delivers many advantages such as dynamic cluster-level load balancing, high-availability, full utilization of server hardware and superior data consistency. This architecture also eliminates the need for data partitioning, data routing, slave servers and data or function shipping.

In addition, ScaleDB utilizes an innovative index, replacing B-tree, that is highly compressed (typically 25% of the size of B-tree indexes) and very fast (for both updates and reads).

ScaleDB is launching its beta program very soon, and they are looking for beta testers, ideally with enterprise-class requirements.
