I need to bow out of tonight's meeting! It's Election Day and I plan on celebrating with the person I have been volunteering for city council of Sacramento! Next meeting YES!

I had to bow out last week when I recalled I was working the polls on the same day.

Thanks John, I was hoping I'd know a little sooner since I'm coming from out of town, but since they won't turn anyone away, maybe I'll take my chances.
About texting, how do you text if you don't know the person's name or anything about them? That needs some conversation.......I think the other meetup is so math oriented that it attracts a different crowd. I'm from the customer service tech. background and these guys might be hard core software developers (so maybe not so much on the people interfacing)? Lots of the presenters have phd's in research. As I said though, I can't walk outta that room without have learned something, the presentations have been really good.

Marnie, did you see the videos? You can view to see what types of topics are shown. I've not seen much math depth, but mostly consumer apps (which kinda pprecludes my ideas). I'm still accepting homemade cookies though :)

Haven't seen the videos John. The meetup that's pretty techy is the one that meets at hacker dojo (ML). As for the cookies, I saw some yesterday that I thought about baking. But for now the only cookies are the ones storing your info. in IE(ha)!

Is this a bug in Meetup? I was on the waiting list and it never cleared me to attend, but I'm showing as "Attended" and asking for a Review?

    March 5, 2014

    • Joe R.

Seems like a bug, possibly related to their outages this week.

Hi, I am on the waiting list and already RSVP'd earlier. Can i show up at the venue or should i wait until i get the confirmation? Thanks.

    1 · February 4, 2014

    • Eric E

Srin, you are still on the wait list and far enough back that you are not going to get in today. I recommend signing up for next month's event now. It already has 174 RSVP's and could easily fill up tonight.

      February 4, 2014

    • Srin B.

Sure Eric, thanks for the clarification.

People on the wait list when will have a notice if they can come or not?

    2 · February 3, 2014

    • Eric E

Francesca, the space is not actually big enough for 200 people. A certain amount of no-shows is factored in. If you just show up early without an RSVP, that means someone with an RSVP can be crowded out. Also, you have two guests. Since spots usually become available one at a time, your odds of getting pulled in are almost zero. You really need to be in the first 20 or so with no guests to have a good shot of betting off the wait list. Most of the activity happens on the day of the event (i.e., tomorrow)

      February 3, 2014

    • Joe R.

Eric is correct (thanks, Eric!). Due to overcrowding at the event, we ask that people use the RSVP system. Unfortunately, there's not enough turnover on the waitlist to get everyone in. However, if you get in, you'll receive an email from Meetup.com.

Thank you everybody I really enjoyed all the people I heart with the camaraderie of the group

    January 25, 2014

  • Marnie D.

Hey John, maybe if I volunteer to bring some cookies they get me off the waitlist. Oh no, after they eat the cookies they might not invite me back, not a good idea afterall......

    1 · January 25, 2014

  • Marnie D.

When do they notify us about being able to attend, if currently waitlisted? If it's standing room only, I'd be o.k with that too since maybe people are more likely to mingle anyway? Some other groups people don't talk. I thought that was unusual, but maybe because of the kind of meetup? I've only been to a few meetups, they had excellent topics.

Hi Marnie, I think they email as available, often the same day of event. Oh, and no need for talking, everyone just texts...
