On Wednesday March 13th we team up once more with the IET and the BCS to bring you something a little different. From 6pm, Grev Commins will be giving a talk on 'Sizing the market', which will be followed by some real life examples.

"Entrepreneurs often spend far too long perfecting their product and not enough time testing it with the market" – so says James Caan. He believes that instead of only spending 10% of the development time talking to customers, it should be more like 50%. By speaking to the market, businesses could solve problems sooner, assess whether the product will actually sell in quantity and maximise the profit potential. This will enhance their chance of raising finance, and being successful when they do launch.
This networking event aims to explore the journey faced by innovative businesses when identifying the optimum market segment for new products or services.
Our speakers will look at how to measure the size, and assess the growth potential,of your chosen market, even when your product/service is unique. So, when you next pitch your idea, you will be able to answer the questions – “How many potential customers are out there? What evidence have I got to support this? How can I find this information?”
Greville Commins, Varoom Limited, helps to accelerate start-up businesses, improving their chances of a successful product launch or gaining investment. Using his skills in marketing, business development, and leadership & mentoring skills, Greville has directly helped start-ups excel. Greville has over 25 years’ experience in technology marketing, creation of business partnerships and the launching of new products to the market. Greville also lectures on Enterprise at the University of Bristol and guest lectures on the University of Bath MBA courses.
We will also have two entrepreneurs who will give real life examples of their experiences of determining their market size and how successful they were.
Matt Hatch, CEO of Red7Mobile Ltd, a professional app development company. Matt has previously held positions with Gnodal, Mubaloo and Forward Loop. He has over 25 years experience in the high tech industry, working in a range of companies and sectors from multi-national corporates and SMEs to setting up his own startups.

South West Founders is a monthly meet-up for people based in the South-West who have been, are, or want to be tech start-up founders.
