TIME UPDATE: Chocolate Factory Tour + Long Grove

Maybe it’s the charming shops, the historic character or the genuine friendliness of the merchants. Or maybe it’s the unique gifts, jewelry, exceptional home decor, and distinctive foods and wines that will catch your fancy. Discover for yourself why Long Grove Historic Village is often called the hidden gem in Chicago’s northern suburbs.

We will start our day in BUFFALO GROVE with a tour of the Long Grove Confectionery Co., said tour SCHEDULED FOR 11:00am, and ending with a sample of their gourmet chocolate.

After the tour, we will drive 10 minutes to Long Grove and spend several hours taking advantage of what Long Grove has to offer: A charming four-season village, Long Grove offers more than 60 distinctive shops, galleries and restaurants housed in authentic homes and businesses that date from the 1800s. Visitors can stroll the cobblestone walks that wind through the historic downtown and enjoy seasonal lush gardens and scenic views. And they can make it a quick trip or a day’s outing, shopping and indulging their tastes with a variety of food and bakery products, cafés, and fine eating establishments.

8:30am -- IF INTERESTED IN CARPOOLING, MEET ME at Rokwelz Bar & Grill, 11265 West 159th Street, Orland Park. Carpool arrangements will be determined based on who shows up at 8:30am.  I have a red Dodge Magnum Sport Wagon which will fit 3 additional people comfortably.

9:00am -- Leave PROMPTLY for Long Grove.  My cell # is [masked].

For those who showed up, THANK YOU!! The reason for groups like Meetup is so that we might attend events that otherwise we would not on our own. Interesting tour, and very nice people to visit with from this Group.

Tangela -- Thank you for pointing out to me that I had forgotten to indicate that there is a $2.00 per person cost for the tour; it is paid directly to the factory, when we arrive. I have you marked down as wanting to carpool from Rokwelz'. Gas $$ is always appreciated. I will see you on the 30th @ 8am.

Is there a charge for this tour? Are we leaving our cars in the parking lot of the bar and grill. I am interested in riding with someone, will chip in for gas.
