Professional dancer Julia Wood will give the beginner swing lesson.

The Beantown Swing Orchestra continues its first Saturday swing dances in Concord, for one final time at the Performing Arts Center at 51 Walden before moving back to the Scout House in October

Professional dancer Julia Wood and Olin College student Kevin Sihlanick will give a beginner swing dance lesson at 8:00pm, which is free with admission and no partner is required.  Because the "followers" rotate through the "leaders," it's a great way to meet people before the dance begins.

Then, the 18-piece Beantown Swing Orchestra will get the dance floor swinging with its classic big band arrangements from the 1930s and 1940s.  The band mainly consists of college students from Berklee and NEC, as well as some recent grads.  There is plenty of energy here to get the place swinging all night long!
The Performing Arts Center at 51 Walden, located in beautiful historic downtown Concord Center, is a Queen Anne shingled building constructed in 1892.  The main hall is used primarily for theatrical performances but also for band and orchestra concerts and dances.   Acoustical enhancements have been made to provide an optimal musical experience without the use of excessive amplification.

Parking is readily available on the street or in nearby public lots (but please do not park in the church lot across the street).  If taking public transportation, the Concord station of the commuter rail (Fitchburg line) is a six minute walk to the venue.

Directions and other information on 51 Walden are at www.51walden.org.

For Beantown Swing Orchestra's dance schedule, news, band info, and audio/video clips, please visit www.beantownswing.com.

Hope to see you on Saturday, and please forward this announcement to all your friends!
