Royal National Park Kayak/Hike/Camping Weekend

Come for the day or camp for the whole weekend--we're getting a big group together to go hiking/kayaking/camping at the Royal National Park. We'll be camping right next to the river/bay with access to kayak trips and freakin' amazing hikes--It's like hiking from Coogee to Bondi but much much better with options to do 2, 4, or 7 hour hikes.

More information on the facebook event https://www.facebook.com/events/693385630700996/

The Royal National Park can be reached in 1 hour via public transport so you don't need a car and it's easy to get down there on Friday after work.

It's up to you whether you want to camp 1 night or 2 or just come down to kayak for the day.

You can bring your own tent/airbed or hire one.

How much will it cost?

$115 which includes camping, kayaking, and a meal+drink at the local café (i.e. burger)—spots on the trip are limited and available on a first to pay basis--payments must be made by Wednesday Feb 12th at the drinks/info session. Bring cash to the info/drinks session or confirm your spot with a bank transfer (if space is still available, last minute prices will be higher).

FAQ

Camp sites have bathrooms/HOT showers, but no electricity. You're responsible for reading the campsite website to understand all details.

Food

There's an IGA in Bundeena next to the Ferry Wharf. I'd recommend you team up with 3-4 people to do group food.

Hikes

There are lots of great hikes you can do in the area and I can tell you a bit about them and you can probably join me and many others in the group to hike, but in the end you're responsible for your own hike.

A) Hike from Bundeena to Watamalla and back

B) Hike from Otford to Bundeena (27km) - take ferry from Bundeena to Crunulla and train from Crunulla to Otford then walk back to Bundeena (total trip time: 9.5 hours = 90 minutes traveling, 6.5 hours walking, 90 minute resting.

Spots are still available for overnight and day trips.

If you're taking the train Friday night and not driving, I've checked the train/ferry schedules and if you want to get the last ferry from Crunulla to Bundeena Friday night, then you need to be on the 5:30pm train from Central. The ferry is about 100 meters from the train station. Cars also need to be inside the camp ground by 8pm (otherwise you just have to park outside the park for the night (no big deal)).
