Active Day trip
This Brooklyn to Cowan Station walk is a popular section of the Great North Walk, with scenery ranging from foreshore to ridge top lookouts. This is a great one-way bushwalk from station to station with numerous water views, including a circumnavigation of Brooklyn Dam whilst enjoying a wonderful diversity of flora along the way.
I suggest to take the 8:45 train from Central station to Hawkesbury river station. It is 50km North of Sydney. The train ride takes 1 hour so you can relax and get rid of the hangover if you need to.
The hike is about 13.4km and includes some decent climbs. It takes 5.30 hours. Of course it will depend of level of fitness as well. Bring a packed lunch or buy a sandwich at Central Station.
We arrive at Cowan train station and take the train back to central. I am sure some of us will go for a beer afterwards.
