What's a Black, over-fed, over-patriotic American to do once he migrates to Australia? Sing! That's what! From back home in North Carolina all the way to Sydney, Madison McKoy marks his debut performance at Slide on the 4th of July. He's going to sing the songs and tell the tales that made him the man he is today. Madison migrated to Sydney in 1994 and almost immediately won a role in the Australian Premiere of 'Miss Saigon'. He went on to perform in 'Sweet Charity', 'What The World Needs Now' and also in the films 'South Pacific', 'Radioland Murders' and 'Looking for Natalie Wood'. Madison also performs around the traps showcasing music from his two CDs 'Deep Within' (1999) and '10th Child' (2005). With a background in musicals, film, stage and church, Madison, accompanied by Sydney Conservatorium trained pianist, Ben Calefati, takes you on a journey of song. Including tunes like 'Night and Day', 'Rhythm of Life', 'Spinning Wheel', 'Summertime', a couple of his originals, and some of 'that there gospel music'. So sit back and enjoy and as always? when the spirit hits you feel free to get your 'sway on'.
