The film was preaching to the converted. The best it might do is make someone who is on the verge of disbelief make their minds up a little quicker. One of the most important points was not mentioned i.e..... The mixture of primitive thinking and 21st century weaponry....a real and present danger!!!

No. This effort is rather about one more solid nail in the coffin, and a damn fine one at that, than any attempt at closure beyond our reasonable reach at this time. 5x Bravo& much kudos to all involved.

At least Atheists are starting to get a voice....only a squeak for now....lets turn it into a roar!

Agree, Carol Dee, that the film was preaching to the converted. Lawrence did explain in Q&A session afterwards that its intention was to encourage "believers" to think - get them over the line and to question their religious traps. A pussyfooting, non-confronting approach, perhaps. Demographic was interesting - mostly much younger (than me) - which gives me hope for my teenage kids. What I would have loved, per all my nagging posts below about finding you all at Meet Up for our group, is that we didn't. I put my mobile number on the site before start and after film ended. Received a text from Julia (Brazil) who was also trying to find the Meet Up (hi, Julia!). But by that time I was on the train home. I would have really enjoyed some discussion about the film afterwards. How do we meet up in similar situation again? I don't think atheists, humanists ... et al want symbols. Next time, I'll be milling around wearing a Tahitian flower necklace. Anyone next for a red Santa hat?

I usually would have organised a pub afterwards, but I had something else to do to, so didn't. People were free to suggest a venue, here by sorry I should have put down the paragon or similar.

Perhaps we should make the Paragon hotel/pub upstairs as a meet up spot after events at the Opera House. The food is OK and it's not as busy as the Opera Bar ....and the Santa hat might also be helpful.

Hi all - A friend of mine has two spare tickets to "The Unbelievers" Premiere (10.30am tomorrow, see http://fodi.sydneyoperahouse.com/the-unbelievers-australian-film-premiere/) and also one spare ticket to John Safran's "Murder In Mississippi" (6.15pm tomorrow, see http://fodi.sydneyoperahouse.com/murder-in-mississippi/) which are presently about to go to waste. So she is looking to give them away. If any of you would like them, her only condition is that, afterwards, you buy her alcohol! I'm about to go to bed, so the first takers in this thread get them. Please also also PM me a mobile number, so I can contact you in the morning.

I wouldn't stress, we are likely to be the only obvious 'group' there.

Missed out on the other Krauss event, so looking forward to this one. Plus of course the movie itself!

I'm sure there will be a few red 'A's in the crowd and at least there won't be too many busloads of Christians!

Should we try to meet after the film at one of the out door restaurants near the Opera house? Or if anyone is up for a beer we could always meet outside the Opera House and walk over to the Lowen Brau?

    October 29, 2013

  • Mikel K.

    $8.50 transaction fee?
I'll just pop into the opera house on my lunch break.

Hi there, Just bought my ticket. Looking forward to my first event.

Are we catching up before / after this?

    October 28, 2013

  • Mike I.

I assume of course that there will no doubt be a pre-event huddle, in which we will dawn our atheist hats, before running (or fast walking) through the Opera House chanting (with an inside voice of course) 'skepticism leads the way!'
