Southern Sydney Social

A gathering in the southern Sydney region for those who live in the St George, Sutherland and Illawarra areas.

The Royal Hotel is directly opposite Sutherland train station and a nice place for a Sunday afternoon drink & chat with friendly atheists

Come along for an easy going social gathering and meet like minded people who live nearby. If you have any questions, or have trouble finding us at the venue, call or text Martin [masked]) or Peter [masked]).

Sorry guys, not 100% today so will give this one a miss. I'll be at the next one or might even try to organise something interesting before the next gathering.

Yes Martin you know that I am always ready to meet with you. Give us a time and place. Chris at least should be there to chaperone.

Lovely day for a few drinks with Sydney atheists.

Looking forward to hearing views on:
    - IS and the Australian government's response.
    - Bill Maher and Sam Harris vs. Ben Affleck.
    - New film releases featuring Hitchens, Krauss and Dawkins.
    - Recent and upcoming talks at Strattons Hotel.

Thanks Lee... people like Affleck seem ready to rush in to defend muslims without knowing too much about Islam. Affleck should read a few book by Ayaan Hirsi Ali (as I have) - as much as Affleck might not want to conceded this, Islam does in fact contain a lot of poisonous ideas that are just not acceptable to liberals (as Maher/Harris pointed out). And it's no good pointing to moderate muslims - that is beside the point. Affleck's reaction is just ignorance on display.

I like this response to the Affleck/Maher/Harris episode from Gad Saad:

If you like what you see there, give Gad Saad a listen on a recent episode of the Godless Spellchecker podcast:

I found this interview very engaging.
