Welding for Craft and Art - Intro to Oxy/Acetylene Welding

Join Richard Furniss as he covers welding theory and safety using oxy/acetylene equipment.  This class is designed to provide enough information and examples to give the participant the confidence to try welding at home.

This kind of welding can be done outside on a BBQ grill to create works of art.  Suggested material for home practice will be copper rods, flat copper sheets and thin metal tubing.

Examples of objects with good welds and bad welds will be passed around for inspection and discussion.  There will also be a textbook handout (in PDF format and hard copy)  that will help get the participant started in welding, including what equipment to buy, where to get supplies, to setup and safety.

This class will be repeated on May 24th (Saturday).  If there is sufficient demand, a hands-on practice series will be considered.

**No welding will be done during the class as our zoning prohibits welding on-site.

Wow, bummer I thought this was later in the month. I signed up but didn't get any type of reminder notification. Next time I'll have to remember to add it to my calendar. Can I apply any of the payment to the next one if you have it again?

    Thank you,

Hi Jeff, you weren't registered for this class. You are registered for the one on Saturday the 24th. It's the same class. We offered it twice this month. Hope this helps.

Thank you Katie, I hope you get a chance to burn some welding rod soon. I'm looking forward to working with you on the design and build project. We now have 8 SYN group members on the design and build team and it's time to move forward with the project.

I really enjoyed the class. I makes me even more excited to try welding. Sadly, there was no hands on learning, but I knew that would be the case going in. I signed up for a project that, hopefully, will get me more involved with both welding and SYN Shop.

We're doing this intro class twice in May on the 6th and the 24th. Welding is a big subject and we have plans for future classes already.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
