Shopbot 100

This class will be led by our very own Chris Oremus.

This introductory class will cover the following:

Shopbot operation: job setup, fixtures, tools, safety, cleanup

Job set up: coordinate reference, CNC principles, hot key shortcuts

Basic woodworking theory: which bits and why

Example runs for each student: each student will learn to load material, load a job, and will take home a design cut from 1/2in MDF

This class will not cover G-code programming or CAD/CAM, so we recommend that you have some basic familiarity with those concepts to get the most out of the class.

This is one class in a 3 part series that Chris is planning: the other two will cover the use of free CAD/CAM tools and advanced Shopbot design.

Just wanted to comment that the class was really awesome.. it ran a little long, but never once did I feel..'oh i'm bored' .. Chris did great ! I feel like I've learned so much from working with the shopbot, safety concerns, the million types of bits available.. to even minor details like securing a bit to the drill efficiently..!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
