Open Poll on starting daytime taichi classes!

Dear Taichi Members:

Hope all of you have been enjoying this beautiful summer!

I've been having a lot of fun practicing taichi by the swimming pool and on the beaches.

I've just added a poll on starting daytime taichi classes in White Plains since I've received some suggestions from our members that they prefer the daytime sessions.

To me, taichi helps me rejuvenate early in the morning and to unwind at night.  So I think the suggestions make a lot of sense.  Of course, our meetup needs your input to make it a success.  So, if you are interested, please go to our website and click on the Poll at the left of the webpage to take the Poll.

One member wrote to me last week that she was very excited to recognize the movement "Golden Rooster" practiced by the people in their local park in China on CNN's Olympic coverage.

I still remember those days in my hometown in Southern China when I got up so early in the morning in pitch dark to join my taichi group for our early morning practice.  To my surprise, by the time when I got there, the park had already packed with people with different interest groups.  The largest ones were taichi and International Latin Dancing.  I was the last one in the formation of the rest of the 70 other taichi practioners.  Finally one day, I heard a question asking how to do a move on Parting the Wild Horse's Mane.  I coudn't believe the question was for me!

Practice, practice and practice, and it does make perfect!  I started to feel the movements coming from my shoulders, to the elbows and the wrists;  I could feel the chi, the energy, flowing in my body; my legs muscles became much stronger;  my horse stand could go much lower and stronger;  I could balance much better;  my flexibility was much better.

I finally realized how hooked I was to taichi was when I had to go out in the pouring rain to meet my fellow practitioners.  I thought I was the crazy one, but when I got to the balcony a couple of them had already waiting for me in the rain with their umbrellas trying to call me.

I go back to my hometown every year for my practice.  I miss going there this year since I didn't make the earlier arrangement, but I really miss practicing the sword and fan with my friends there since there're very few people doing it here.   I look forward to the day when our meetup is growing to have our daily practice!  I'm sure that day will come before I know it.

I would like to thank those of you who make the suggestion on starting the daytime sessions.  You're the ones who make my taichi journey fun and meaningful!

Enjoy the weekend!

P.S. I've uploaded some videos on youtube on the warm-up and the instructions of the 1st couple of movements from the Basic 8-Form, Yang Style.  Here's the link to one of them, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCTtcr6168M,  if you click on the screenname blueon1 you can other videos on taichi walks as well.

Hi Xinxing,

Evening classes are not good for me, but I could come to a daytime class any day. Can you ask your members about coming during the day- I bet some might prefer that?

Dear Taichi members:

Hope you've been enjoying this beautiful summer day!

We've been enjoying our practice at our new studio in ST. Bart's Church in White Plains and look forward to a lot more fun time in the future.

I've just uploaded two new instructional videos on taichi walk. The quality is a lot better so hopefully you'll find them helpful in your learning.
