Bog Springs-Kent Spring Loop Trail

  • Mar 23, 2013 · 9:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Please wear adequate footwear and bring trail snacks and plenty of water for you and your dog. This is a moderate to difficult hike due to the elevation change: approximately 6 miles in length and 2400 ft elevation change.

We will meet at the Madera Trailhead just after the sign for Bog Springs Campground. The cost of parking is $5 per vehicle. Hike time should be around 3.5 hours for experienced hikers. After the hike, I may do a little extra exploring on the nature trail that runs next to Madera Creek.

I had something come up and won't be able to make. I've been wanting to do this hike and hope to get to soon...but need to take care of my emergency. Hope to see you all in a future hike.

Do you what the weather will be like on the trail. Will there be snow on the trail? I have been to Madera Canyon in the past and know its alot cooler but wasn't sure if we should expect some snow on the trail or much cooler temps.

There won't be snow. You can put Madera Canyon on weather.com for the expected temperature.

Thank you for your response. After I posted I did think to check weather.com and looks to be beautiful weather on Saturday.

Still hoping for some hike on westside--haven't been able to find the off-leash areas yet (sigh). Just got back from six years in Patagonia Az where there was plenty of creek trails, dry river beds, lots of off-leash areas. Does anyone know of--whether they wish to do such a hike or not--if there is any dog-friendly off trail hiking in my Painted Hills/Speedway area?
