Marshall Gulch-Wilderness of Rocks Trails

Please wear adequate footwear and bring trail snacks and plenty of water for you and your dog. This hike will be just under 5 miles total (out and back) with a cumulative elevation gain of 700 feet at a moderate pace. Hike time is approximately 2.5 hours for average hikers.

Bill will be hosting this Meetup. Meet him at Le Buzz and look for his sage green Subaru Forester. To avoid biker/dog conflicts at Le Buzz Cafe, meet way out in the parking lot near Tanque Verde Road on the east side of McDonalds. Please arrive early enough so that we can depart for Mt. Lemmon shortly after 8:00 AM. Bill's cell number is 307-2455.

A description of the hike from Bill: "We'll hike the Marshall Gulch Trail to Marshall Saddle and continue down the Wilderness of Rocks Trail to a couple wading/swimming pools for the dogs. Yellow columbine will be in bloom along the creek beds. Expect mountain temperatures to be about 30 degrees cooler than Tucson with a mix of sun and shade. The Forest Service has temporarily suspended parking fees at Marshall Gulch."

Chris, those are some really good photos. I especially like that one of your pup in the monkey flowers.

    Hi All,

Bill, thank you for arranging such a fun doggie hike. I enjoyed meeting you all, and wish Cosi and I kept up with more of the group, but we had a fun hike back with Chris, Lulu and Sparky. Thank you for having water-loving dogs and for your dogs' introducing Cosi to the joys of water! I look forward to another hike soon.

    Hi All,
So happy Cosi (a very friendly and energetic 10-year-old Basset) and I made the list! We'll meet you at Le Buzz but will probably drive up separately, in case we can't keep up with the group. See you in the morning!

There's another Meetup hiking group departing from Le Buzz at the same time so make sure you find the right group. Our group will be meeting far out in the parking lot near Tanque Verde Road. The weather forecast for Mt. Lemmon is sunny with a high in the mid-70's and a light breeze. Please update your RSVP if you are unable to attend.

Hi everyone! Just joined and looking forward to our favorite hike with dogs tomorrow. I'll have an old girl Aussie and a young friendly pup. See you @ the trailhead!

I have just joined this group, but probably won't participate right away because I need to get a knee in shape. So I'll hike with a different non-dog group until I'm sure my knee will hold up. I look forward to bringing one or two Cardigan Welsh Corgis along, or my Lab, once I'm ready. Hope to meet you soon!

Is there a reason for meeting at Le Buzz and not at the trailhead?

    June 3, 2013

    • Bill B.

Elizabeth, feel free to meet us at the Marshall Gulch trail head at 8:45am. Meeting at Le Buzz gives hikers with compatible dogs the option to carpool if they wish.

Oh, If anyone is open to driving up w/me and Bodhi & Jasper I have room or we would take a ride if there is room for us. If not see you at the trailhead

Hi. I was hoping to bring my friend but I see there is a wait list and I forgot to put +1. Is that ok? If not I understand.

    June 5, 2013

    • Bill B.

No problem Jennifer. Bring your friend.

      June 5, 2013

    • Bill B.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
