Mt Graham Camping and Hiking

Abe will be hosting this meetup. A description from him: "Camping in the cool spruce/fir/aspen forest at about 9000'. There's several fun trails in the area, one right thru Treasure Park with water, Cunningham always flows, too. Camping just north of Treasure Park. 2 1/2 hour drive."

Expect temps from the mid 70's to the low 50's in the mornings. Fire restrictions so doubtful camp fires allowed. Camp spot is up a dirt road 1/10 of a mile and I'll put a sign at the road to mark it. Just before Treasure Park on right. The invite is also to SAMBA mountain bike club and a place we ride most summers.

Sounds like a great time! Am having a little leg problem and am using a hiking stick--may I go at my own pace, pick my own destinations as I would hate to hold the group back. Have an elderly pug who will probably stay close to camp (he has no hiking stick) and also a standard poodle who loves to run--both gentle, good with other dogs.
What should we bring other than sleeping bag, water, food and possibly bike? Bringing our own vehicles right? Might want to use it for bed or dog house. If we're carpooling I could bring someone and their dog/s with me.

Clothing for temps in the 40's in the early morning. Chair, light, camera. There is no shopping on the mountain. I'll stop at Apple Annies for treats on the way. Rain is possible but chance of precip is low, at most a shower Friday. Have a single burner stove and table. Better to bring your own car, I may stay a while. Will you meet at LeBuzz or on the mountain?

Have camped on the Pinelenos many times and know the mountain well. There is 1 trail right out of the spot and several more within 2 miles. Have seen bears twice on this mountain, dense population. As the Pinelenos are 1500' taller than the Catalinas and steeper if the monsoon gets strong this isn't the place to be. I'll bring my mountain bike as well to ride Grant Hill. The one place I tend to avoid is Riggs Lake, the most crowded spot on the mountain. There is a sweet series of pools 3 miles from the base of the mountain up a good dirt road. Also 5 hot springs in the area, the nearest at Roper Lake, south of Safford and a couple by the Gila River. Another is Hot Well Dunes, remote.
