Dinner & a Movie Night

Our traditional monthly event has a great relaxed format and location!  Join fellow Beanstalks for an economical evening featuring good conversation, variety of food and an excellent movie.

Bring a dish to share, then after we eat we’ll watch a DVD on Jan & Susan’s big screen TV.  Multiple current and classic DVDs will be available (feel free to bring one along if you like).  Whatever the group can agree on is what we’ll watch.

Fine, high-class, home-cooked dinner. Movie afterward. I guess that conforms to the description, except... Our hosts were excellent and natural people, of a kind you don't often find nowadays. (You can see why I am smitten with them.) There were fine tall guests attending (certainly none of us under 30 years old), whose company at dinner was enjoyable. In addition to the obligatory tall contingent, there was, at dinner, a liberal scattering of international students who were staying with our hosts. (This I took to be another evidence of the extreme goodness and generosity of our hosts.) After mdinner, we decided on a movie to watch. It was a comedy, and the group was the sort that laughed out loud.

This was my first "Beanstalks" get-together. (The criterion height is 6'2"). I was disappointed only that there was no group sing of "Short People" and that no one taught me the "Beanstalks Handshake". (How else could they exclude folks in elevator shoes and stiltwalkers?)

I'm on the list for your meetup tonight. It's 6PM and I have just returned from the dentist. I guess his motto is NO PAIN - NO PAIN, since he has anesthetized me from eyebrows to Adam's apple. If, sometime in the next half hour, my lip stops feeling like it ends somewhere south of my nipple line, I'll be there. Otherwise, I must send my regrets. I'm sure you'll understand. I'm not that tall anyway.
