Fiddle, some singing
Until September 2010 I was a semi-professional Irish musician in Austin. I still catch sessions if I'm going to a city that has a good one, but I haven't performed at all since then. I have been maintaining a long-distance relationship with a traditional French band in Austin, because it's not like I can just hit up the local traditional French music session wherever I go. In the French band I sing and play fiddle & krumhorn (an obscure reed instrument). I'm a pretty good Irish fiddler, a very "folky" singer (no one would ever call my voice pretty), and a pretty rudimentary krumhorn player. Also when I was in Austin I played vielle (medieval fiddle) with a couple of early music groups, one that did formal concerts and one that did Renaissance festivals. I've taught Irish fiddle workshops in Texas, some of the "intervention for classical violinists" variety. I played cello in high school and one of these years I will buy a decent instrument and take it back up.
I'm really not sure. I don't think I want to get back into performance here (I'd gotten really tired of "scene" politics in Texas); I'm joining to see what others are up to.
Yes. I've played for small and large crowds at concerts and festivals in several states.
See above; not sure. Some "open mic" type stuff might be fun. I like to share the music I love.
Just moved to TB area.
