Looking to craft better light? This one-day seminar focuses exclusively on Canon Speedlites. You’ll get the how-to and why-to specific to your Canon gear. It’s called ‘Intensive’ for a reason—a ton of information will be headed your way all day.
Speedlites Demystified & Untangled
Flash photography need not be confusing or frustrating. Nor does it have to look bad. The keys to shooting great images with flash are: (1) get your flash off the top of your camera as quickly as you can, and (2) know what your Speedlite can and cannot do for you. Even if you have just one Speedlite, you can create beautiful images without a load of extra gear.
Be warned though, that once you become comfortable with one Speedlite, you’ll want another and then another. Fortunately, Canon 580- and 430-series Speedlites have wireless communications built in. With a handful of Speedlites, you can create light that rivals heavy studio packs. If you want to travel fast and light, then Speedliting is for you.

A Bit of Q&A:
How do I register?
Please follow this link to register on the Speedliter website. Click the drop down and receive your $25 NPPF member discount.
I am a Nikon shooter. Can I come?
Of course you may! Ultimately photography is about the images you make and NOT about the gear you used. That said, just know that the button-pushing demonstrations are Canon-specific. The lighting concepts are universal.
Should I bring camera gear?
Maybe. Many students find it helpful to bring a single camera, lens, and a Speedlite so that they can follow along with a bit of the button-pushing during the day. Beyond this, it’s not necessary to have any camera gear on hand.
Will I be shooting during the day?
No, sorry. Given the fast pace of the seminar, it is not possible to carve out time so that students can shoot. The Speedliter’s Extended™, a multi-day workshop in which Syl teaches Speedliting in a hands-on setting with a small number of students, would give you the opportunity to shoot.
Will my contact info be provided to sponsors/vendors?
Nope. You’re in total control of who you’ll hear from because you have to initiate the contact.
Will you try to sell me a bunch of stuff during the day?
Nope. This is not a “show-and-sell” event. The Speedliter’s Workbook includes a list of Syl’s favorite gear and sources. You’ll have to buy the gear on your own.
Will you autograph one of your books if I bring it?
Yes, of course.
What about lunch?
Glad you asked. Lunch is on your own. Different venues will be nearby.
