I apologize for this late change:

Marshall's company is sending him out of town and he won't be able to make the meeting. He'll do his talk on Heroku in December instead (and demo a cool related iPhone app)

Also, I'm out with the flu and won't be able to make it (trust me, you don't want what I have) If any of you want to get together still feel free to show up. We'll probably cancel the community room so you won't have to buy the $50 worth of food/drink to use it.

We've been away for a while with a lack of meetings, but we are back!

Several Tampa teams competed this past weekend in Rails Rumble so we'll be discussing how exciting it is to develop a web app in 48 hours... Also David Black of Ruby Central is in town this week and is looking to meetup with some Rubyists and other cool/fun people. David does great work for the Ruby community so come by and chat with him. I'll email everyone if/when he commits to attending.

Check out the apps made this weekend by Tampa rubyists:

We have the community room reserved at Panera Bread.

We'll talk about ruby, other languages, and tech. in general. I will also drink too much of that wonderfully over-sweetened iced green tea.

We are pleased to have a guest speaker this month.

Robert Dempsey, CEO of the (Rails) web development shop Atlantic Dominion Solutions, organizer of Acts as Conference and creator of expens'd will be our guest speaker this month.

Robert Dempsey will provide you with a full introduction to agile development with scrum: what is it and how it works. If you are involved in the creation of software as a developer, project manager, an end user, or a customer, this meeting is for you. While Robert is particularly fond of Ruby and Rails, this topic will be more wide ranging and applicable across languages and frameworks. What do you need to bring? Just yourself, and perhaps a friend or two.

This meeting begins our second in a series of Mini-BarCamp / Lightning Talk meetups. Please come to the meetup with 5 to 10 minute short talks (or longer if the topic excites you) related to the topic. If the topic is new to you, its an opportunity to learn something and come share. Or maybe just come with some questions ready to discuss.

This month we'll be discussing Ruby/Rails Testing Frameworks.

Some ideas:

Bring some Ruby/Rails code you think is well tested and brag
Bring some Ruby/Rails code you want help on testing and we'll live-code test it.
Bring an idea for a small feature/app/class to develop with TDD/BDD approach.
Bring some TDD/BDD success/failure stories.
Others?
