Docker

Brian Goff will be presenting on: Docker

Time and time again we hear “works in dev” but issues arise in prod or one dev can reproduce an issue but another one can’t, tests work in dev but fail in the test env. This is all stuff that takes up so much of our time and kills productivity. The cause of these sorts of issues is simple, differences in environments.  Differing package versions, running in OSX in dev but Linux in test, <insert reason here>.

In this talk I will speak about how Docker can improve our productivity and help mitigate most or all of these issues.

Brian did a great job, he showed us some really cool things that docker is capable of. Learned a lot.

Very informative talk on docker. I plan to check it out. I also want to mention something I started a month ago, RubyNewbies.org. Its an online study group learning the basics in Ruby (no rails).
We just started working on projects this week and all levels of experience are welcome.

Maybe this group should be renamed The Downtown St. Petersburg Ruby Brigade?

Ok, the Rays playing an away game in CA tonight, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Is it alright if I'm +1 for this event? Couldn't find that option on the RSVP.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
