Tampa Ruby Meetup Tonight @ 7:00 PM!

Scott B.
Portland, OR
Hey everyone,

Tonight @ 7:00 PM is the Tampa Ruby meetup, where we discuss all things Ruby, Rails, web development, web standards, open source, etc. Or atleast we touch on all those things at one point or another. :)

Tonight's Topic:
Although Macs may appear to be the dominant force in the Rails community, we're going to guess that a good portion of you that are new to Rails will be coming from the Windows world. Atleast until you hang out on the Rails related web sites long enough, get bitten by the bug and buy a Mac Book Pro (like me).

For those of you new to Rails, and probably working on Windows, Stephen Maurici is going to do a little walkthrough on how to get up and running in no time with InstantRails - the all in one installation of ruby, rails, apache web server, mysql, etc. Then he'll do a quick tour of RadRails, the free, cross platform IDE for Rails based on Eclipse, with lots of Rails specific goodies.

Tonight's meeting is at the USF Laptop Lounge, a sweet facility equiped with lots of seating, free internet access, a screen, projector, and loads of Macs! (PCs welcome too of course.) Bring your laptop if you have one.

Take I-275 to the Fowler Avenue exit (#51) and head east, or take I-75 south to the Fowler Avenue exit (#265) and head west. The main entrance to the university is at 4202 East Fowler Avenue.

More directions:
Campus Map: http://usfweb2.usf.ed...

- Once you pull in the USF main entrance, go straight past the first light.
- Go past the library (large building on your right) and take a right into the parking lot north of the library.
- The education building is east of the Library. You may need to park in the guest area in the parking garage. (Guest permit costs $4)

The Laptop Lounge is located in room 252 in the Education Building at USF. Get to the second floor and walk around the perimeter hallway to the back side of the building where you should be able to find room 252. If you need help finding it, call (813) 974-6816.
