This month's meeting will feature the film, Honor Diaries.
The Executive Producer of this 60-minute film is Ayaan Hirsi Ali, whose name you may recognize from recent headlines when Brandies University rescinded her honorary degree and speaking invitation. (She was also the writer of the 2004 short film, "Submission." The producer of that film was Theo van Gogh, who was assassinated on the streets of Amsterdam shortly after the film's airing on the Dutch public broadcasting network.)
Honor Diaries explores violence against women in honor-based societies, focusing on genital mutilation, honor killings, and forced marriages. The film profiles nine women's rights activists with origins in the Muslim world.
Segments of the film are difficult to watch, but the information is timely and important.
