Wednesday Night Beginner Session South Tampa

This is Beginner Sessions, it is much slower paced, working on two songs a night.  You will learn how to strum, how to move from chord to chord by using Transitional positions with finger sliding, and how to use the number system so you can change the key of a song.

This is a mini version of our jams and is intended to get those of you on the East side of the bay up and running so you can enjoy the other meetups better.  Our regular meetup for the Tampa side is called South Tampa Jam and is every 3rd Saturday.  We hope these mini jams on Wednesday will bolster your courage to come out and join us on that meet up as well as all the others that TBUS is offering.

Once you get very enthusiastic about your Ukulele, there are many fine teachers to help you go further in your musical pursuit.  They are listed on the TBUS site.  You can also go to my blog for more information on Ukulele.  www.30'sukegirl.blogspot.com   There is a page there titled Absolute Beginners and I was fortunate enough to get in touch with Chili Monster who let me post all his videos for beginners!

Note: Time permitting, after we play through the songs we are working on, I am up for doing a few more of your choice for fun.  Work first, then fun!  Hahaha.  Songs for each session are listed below the maps!  Happy Strumming! Norine Mungo

I have some new requirements up on the meetup and I think that will make the class go easier for everyone. Don't forget your tuner, capo, music stand, and the four songs on the meet up page. Also I have an url to chili monsters site for the tutorials that I want everyone to view and learn before coming to class. It is very good and it helped me learn quickly. So, pass this url on to anyone you know who is trying to learn the chords!!! See you Wed! http://www.shroprock....

I hope you can make it Mary. I think there are only five spots left as of an hour ago. Wow. I think I might have to move this to the clubhouse to accommodate more people. Who knew this many needed help? Check out the new requirements as well. You need to bring an Ukulele Tuner, a banjo/mandolin capo, a music stand, and print out the four songs we have been working on. Oh, and please either go to my blog to view the first four tutorials for the basic chords etc or go to Chili Monsters site. His url is http://www.shroprock....

Lee, make sure you buy a tuner for ukulele, and go to the website of Chili Monster, scroll down to his video tutorials, and work on the first four videos. He reallly teaches the finger positions very well. It is important to learn these basics in order to keep up with the class as we work on songs. Don't worry, you will get it soon enough, and then you will be a Ukulele Playing Fool like the rest of us. Don't worry about the bar chords this week. Just go through those basic chords on the first four videos, and that should get you going for our next session. Here is the url to Chilis site, in case you are having trouble seeing them on my blog. http://www.shroprock....

It is great to have you in the group Ken! Your enthusiasm is catchy!!! I think you give encouragement to many of the new folks, given you are new yourself. I can't wait till next Wed, and I am sure, EVERYONE will bring a turner and be tuned before they arrive! ROF, what a Hoot! haha.

Just in case you get lost, after you are let in the gate using the code 043, go straight to the statue and make a left! go down that street to the water and park in the parking lot there. My house is the third one on the left from the parking lot. Yellow with teal trim, xmass lights still hanging, and a Seahorse on my front wall. Hula girl signs on lawn!!! See you all at 7 pm.

how do I find the group? Is this an apartment within a complex?

    August 13, 2013

    • Norine M.

you come thru the gate and go straight to the statue. Make a left at the statue and follow that street down to the water. That street is Sunset. My house is on the left 3rd from the end of that street which ends in a parking lot on the water. Yellow house with teal trim, hula girl signs on front lawn.

No prob Carla! Sounds great. I found another cool chart that shows the capo positions and how it changes the key. Plus some other charts to add to your folders. I just love finding these things! Oh, and I found a cool website that teaches so much, and I will put that up on the blog today as well. What is my mantra? Happy Strumming!!!

Awesome! The capo has confused me a bit, so that would be very helpful. I think my friend Carole's going to love these classes too!

Take care of your bad self! We want you round for quite awhile! And let us know when you have troubles like that so we can put out the positive vibes for your recovery! Ever, Norine
