Wednesday Night Beginner Session South Tampa

NEW REQUIREMENTS: Absolute Beginners MUST go to my blog   to the ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS page.  Scroll down to the first video and tune your UKULELE with that video, (or use the link to get tuned .com below to tune up) then go through the first three or four videos to learn the basic chords.  These are valuable lessons and you need to come prepared to these sessions with at least these basics.

Then, the night before our meet up, please check your tuning again. Here is a link to a tuner site.

Shopping List: You MUST get a tuner for Ukulele at either Sam Ash, Guitar Center, or some mom and pop music store. I also want you to invest in a Banjo/mandolin Capo.  You will get a 10% discount at Sam Ash in Clearwater if you mention TBUS.  Bring the tuner and capo to the meet up!  Print out your music that is listed below and bring that with you to the session.  Bring a small music stand to place your music on.

This will expedite our tuning time and help us move through the sessions covering more material.  If you come unprepared, you are welcome to sit in, watch and listen, but I will not be able to stop the session to teach these very basic steps, as we have new players each Wednesday and we'd never move forward otherwise.  So, help out your fellow meet up partners and come prepared with the above mentioned skills and items.  You will learn so much more that way!

This is Beginner Sessions, it is much slower paced, working on two songs a night.  You will learn how to strum, how to move from chord to chord by using Transitional positions with finger sliding, and how to use the number system so you can change the key of a song through Transposing or Capo.

It is also a mini version of our jams and is intended to get those of you who need to meet on the  East side of the bay up and running so you can enjoy the other meetups better.  Our regular meetup for the Tampa side is called South Tampa Jam and is every 3rd Saturday.  We hope these mini jams on Wednesday will bolster your courage to come out and join us on that meet up as well as all the others that TBUS is offering.

Right now there is a meet up Ukulele Jam on the 2nd Saturday in the Largo area, a 3rd Saturday in the South Tampa area and a 4th Thursday at the Whistle Stop in Safety Harbor.  Beginner Sessions on Wednesday nights are bi weekly.  Check for upcoming dates.  Seating is limited at Beginner Sessions at this time.

If you miss a session, and want the info we went over, email me at [masked] and let me know you need the charts.  I can email you the images and you can print them out.

Note: Time permitting, after we play through the songs we are working on, I am up for doing a few more of your choice for fun.  Work first, then fun!  Hahaha.  Songs for each session are listed below the maps!  Happy Strumming! Norine Mungo

I will start posting videos of me playing the songs that we are working on in the sessions. This way, those that miss can go to that video and just play along!!! I will let you know when I can get those up on the blog! Also, we will have the hall in the park here for our September South Tampa Jam! Would love it if you brought your child too, and maybe you can take turns playing the uke! There is lots of room there to spread out and be comfortable. Keep in touch as you practice on your own, and let me know if you have any questions along the way! Ever, Norine
