South Tampa Ukulele Jam

UPDATE ON LOCATION:

Hey boys and girls, I'm moving the South Tampa Jam this Saturday to my friends house here in the park, as it is supposed to by very cold that day!  Sunny but cold, and I was worried about the wind on the water!  She lives on Boulevard 3 at number 28.   She has a huge flame heater and also we will have the fire pit going.  Oh, and we are roasting the wieners and marshmallows on the fire pit!  How fun. Still at 1 pm and there will be a pa and amp so those who want to solo etc, will have the watts! Wear your winter clothes, bring your drinks and dish to share (chips are fine too, lol), and we are serving Hot Mulled Wine. Oh yeah, don't forget your music stands.  There is parking on the street on both sides of her house.  We will direct you where to park.   When you come through the gate, go straight to the Statue, this time make a RIGHT at the statue, and come down to Boulevard 3, and make a left.  She is the 2nd house on the left from there!  Number 28.  You can use two gate codes to get in this day only.  043 (mine) and 353 (Virginia's)  Remember it is 4851 West Gandy Blvd, Tampa, 33611.

This month we are outside!    Starts a 1 PM and we are doing a potluck BBQ so bring something to cook for yourselves, and something to share! I will supply hotdogs and buns, and marshmallows for roasting! Also, Hot Mulled Wine.  This will be more casual and we will sit around eating and playing songs from the two Daily Ukulele Books.

As always, I will hand out some surprise songs, and, there will be amp and mic again so we'd love to see you bring some solo/duet songs as well.  I will have a sign up list for open mic at the picnic, and you are welcome to contact me to let me know you intend to perform.

All are welcome, bring your guests, this is the start up for the New Year!  Lets have some fun in the Sun and sing outside!  Next month we will pick some specific songs again.  For now, just start looking through the Yellow and Blue Daily Ukulele and pick your favorites.  Happy New Year TBUS!!!

Don't forget the Gate code to ring my phone is 043.  The driveway to the park is the one right before the Gandy Bait and Tackle sign.  Our sign says Homes Of Regency Cove!  My phone is[masked]

Oh yeah, I have one of those recorder video studios and will be recording solo performances if you would like it. Just let me know. I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable being taped, but if you'd like to have a video of your performance, then I will tape you! We have the Zoom system. See you all tomorrow! Hint, surprise songs just might be of Billy Joel in nature! LOL. He IS performing right here tonight!

I was really hoping Cedric and I would make it today, but it'll be a miracle if we do. Glad you're feeling better, Norine.

Today is Sunny, but cold! LOL. Gonna be a great day for a weenie roast and hot mulled wine. I uploaded two more songs to the Billy Joel collection. There are two songs per file making four songs! If you have time before coming here, print them up and bring to the jam today. I am also making some copies for those who don't get this message in time. See ya at 1!

Norine...Do you have a boom mike stand?

    January 17, 2014

    • Norine M.

I'll have one mic stand and one mic, but if you would like to bring an extra mic, chord and mic stand, that would be great in case anyone wants to do some harmonies! I'll ask Vinny if he has an extra mic but I know we only have the one spare mic stand, and it IS a boom stand.

Belay earlier comments on the location!!! As stated above, we will be on Boulevard 3, number 28. Had to move this farther into the park as it will be cold that day and the wind on the water might be toooo cold for us. View details above in the meetup directions and get ready for some fun! See ya Saturday! Next month we are back in the hall!!

Looking forward to hearing you all on Saturday. Don't forget to bring your fave meat or veggies to bbq. Also stuff to nibble on. I will have hotdogs and buns for everyone as well. Bring your Daily Ukulele books. Bring music stands and outside chairs and clips in case there is a breeze for your pages. Well start out in back by the dock for cooking and eating, then decide whether to go down to the point to play or stay by the dock. Weather rules the day. If you haven't been to my house, it is on Sunset number 15. Come through the gate, go down to stature, make a left at statute, come all the way down Sunset and park by the water.

Hola Norine! I'll likely want to sing a least one something solo :) Are we definitely picnicing...?

    January 13, 2014

    • Norine M.

Yep, and to be safe, in case weather ensues, we will picnic out back at my house, and we can all play there too or walk down to the point and sit there and strum away. I will set up my Marshall amp and either hook the Mic to that or, if weather is nice, we may have the pa as well. I'm thinking minimum equipment in case we have to move inside. Can't wait to hear what you are working on!
