My name is Dave Bullard and I live in the 'Old Seminole Heights' area of Tampa, Florida. I just recently retired and plan on spending more time working on my ukulele playing.
In 2007 I made my first trip to Hawai'i and fell instantly in love with it. I wanted to immerse myself in everything Hawaiian. The food, the music, and naturally the ukulele. I bought my first ukulele on Kaua'i. It was a Kala which was made in China but I loved it. When I went back to Hawai'i in 2008 I bought a Kamaka. Ever since that day I have worked to make my playing worthy of the instrument.
I have eclectic taste in the music I like to play on the ukulele. I like to play old songs and country/folk songs, but I also like to play songs that people don't normally associate with the ukulele.
I play a banjo ukulele that was made in the 1920s. I also play guitar and bass guitar. All of my energy these days goes to playing the ukulele and the harmonica.
I have participated in a few workshops with TBUS and found them very worthwhile. I learn a lot from jamming with my musician friends.
I'm new here and have not had any interaction with anyone on here yet. I went to the The Tampa Bay Ukulele Getaway and had a great time! That was when I found out there was such a thing as the TPUS. I was really happy to find that out. I live in the Seminole Heights area of Tampa. Anyone else live around here? Drop me a line. Ukulele51@msn.com ~ Dave (51 stands for the year I was born.)
