Have You Ever Had Haitian Food? Time to Try It Is NOW!

We collect payment at the event in CASH ONLY. If it is possible to have the exact amount, it will help facilitate the check-in and payment process and will be GREATLY appreciated!

We will be having a speaker at this event.

Ariane Glazer, Founder of the Raw Chicago Community will speak about her adventures in the Amazon Rainforest of Ecuador last year. She lived with an indigenous tribe and saw firsthand the destruction of the rainforest for our petroleum needs. She hopes to inspire you to do your part in saving the rainforests and indigenous peoples of our planet.
She will speak after dinner and while dessert is served.

Chez Violette is a recently opened Haitian family restaurant located on the far North side of Chicago.

There is easy street parking. The food will be excellent! It is a vegan healthy and individually home-cooked type food. Our menu is a good cross-section of what they offer!

Akra (Malanga fritters) - root vegetable, seasoned  with their own blend of spices
Haitian pates (if they can be made vegan) - savory and flaky filled with Caribbean spices and vegetables

The salad will be a traditional Haitian salad of Avocado, Tomato and Watercress.
Another salad will be Salad Violette (house salad).

The soups will consist of the following items.
Soup Jeromon (pumpkin) classic Haitian soup.
Bouyon (Haitian soup) hearty and spicy stew with yams, carrots and onions.

The entrees will be served buffet-style. They are:

The lateness of the event starting was a bit problematic. Food was plentiful. Some dishes, to me, were better than others but truly appreciate the chef's efforts as I understand this was her very first attempt at cooking vegan.

Great group of peole. It seemed the size of the group was a little overwhelming. It was very noisy, difficult to move around and the wait for dinner an hour and a half after the appointed meet up time was a bit much fora work night.

Thank you everyone for coming out! It was a great evening. Thank you for your patience. We had a lot of people to greet and collect from but once we got going up I thought that it moved pretty well. Thank you to Ariane for giving her enlightening talk!

Hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as we did. Food was great (and plentiful) and the people were wonderful!
