Upset by the government flushing our tax dollars down the drain? Join us for a "DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS TEA PARTY" 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. @ City Hall, 301 W. 2nd Street
Gov. Perry will headline the 11:30am event at City Hall also speaking:
Peggy Venable from Americans for Prosperity
Michael Quinn Sullivan, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility
State Rep. Wayne Christian
Commissioner Michael Williams

Eric Odom, Chairman of the Don’t Go Movement, remarked, “Building on the free market ideas of our founding fathers, and embracing the passion they shared to bring them to light, the Nationwide Tea Party Movement is giving voice to tens of thousands of Americans.” Added Stacy Mott, President of Smart Girl Politics, “Average Americans do not support mortgaging away our children’s futures, and the time to speak out against it is now.”

There will be an Independence Day Tea Party In Austin....details will follow the Tax Day Tea Party.

I am putting a call out to all creative supporters.....
Many cities have developed their own "Brand" or Logo and as we are in the Capitol of the 2nd. largest state in the union WE NEED OUR OWN LOGO! I have a local business that will support our Tea Parties and make shirts, hats, bumper stickers and magnets to sell. Our media image will be important moving forward and having us in similar shirts will help solidify out group and effort....especially as the Obama supporters are planning a counter protest! The logo will start with the Independence Day Tea Party...the idea came to late to implement for the Tax Day Tea Party. We will vote to pick our favorite design. Please send in all graphics/ideas to [masked]

From The National Tea Party Movement: National promoters are asking the volunteers in each city, and additional cities as we grow in numbers, to host a total of 10 tea parties before the election in 2010:
1. Nationwide Tea Party, 2009 – Repeal or Retire (Held on Feb. 27th)
2. Tax Day, 2009 – Reduce the Pork, Cut Taxes
3. Independence Day Tea Party, 2009 – Reduce the Pork, Learn the Constitution
4. Labor Day, 2009 -- Reduce the Pork, Taxes and Small Business
5. Election Day, 2009
6. President’s Day, 2010
7. Tax Day, 2010
8. Independence, 2010
9. Labor day, 2010
10. Election Day, 2010

I am also hearing talk of a May 16th Tea Party in Capitol Cities only...... Mark the dates and check back for details!

My husband travels, and it is possible he might not be here at this time. Is there anyone I could carpool with in the 78669 area?

I'll definitely be there! In the meantime, I'll be trying to gather others to come! Perry & our other legislators, who are in session right now, need to know that they're being watched very closely!

I enjoyed the event. I definitely want to get more involved and attend the next event. I didn't like the comments Perry made after the event about succeeding. I love Texas and am definitely for small government but I love the United States more. I say let's focus on winning the hearts and minds of the American people first and foremost!

was very disappointed in the turn out. I feel like if we truly want to make our voices heard, we shouldn't have politicians talking. I brought a friend of mine who knows the constitution inside out, (he didn't want to go because he was uneasy at the fact this hadn't happened prior to this administration) and when McCaul spoke, he liked it but then he said, "well it sounds good because he knows there are Ron Paul supporters here, but what I want to know is how he voted on the patriot act" So, some of it I liked, but it felt like it was a party rally instead of an American outcry against taxes. Taxes are illegal. What the hell are we doing, and why are we so afraid to stand up for the Constitution?
    •  Thank you to everyone attending and supporting the Tea Parties today! Over 2000 showed at our 11:30 City Hall Rally and that is thrilling for us in Austin! Our speakers were awesome and right on target with the majority of America on out of control government! Please send an email off to Americans for Prosperity and let them know how they did....there link is on the sponsor page. Thank you to everyone who came out today on a work day, school day and the day taxes are due. Our voices will be the force that drives this movement of lowering taxes, repealing pork, limited government and driving out those that will not listen. One awesome rally accomplished.....next date July 4th!

About 1,500 people attended. The option above wouldn't let me enter a number that high. Of course, not all of these folks are members of this meet up group. I heard folks shouting, "Secede!" I don't see how that thought is in keeping with the idea of the UNITED States of America. Do folks who favor secesion realize that our economy in Texas is codependent on the rest of the U.S.? And as soon as the U.S. began to break up we would all become easy pickings for other nations waiting like predators in the dark for just such an opportunity. All in all, however, I was very glad to see so many people come together, taking time off from work, to show their solidarity for the republic and for a return responsible leadership in a SMALLER government. Now, don't sit down and think that you're done, the problem will now solve itself. Apathy is exactly what got us into this debacle in the first place.
    •  It was a great day to be an American! I felt as though I finally had an outlet for all the frustration that has been living inside me. I do believe that this is the beginning of a new American Revolution!!!! Thank you all who worked so hard to bring this event about!!!!
    •  It was wonderful... full of enthusiastic people... very orderly... the even was very organized... the speeches were short and great... so nice to see such an orderly bunch of people with the same goals in mind... send a message to Washington!!! We left it as clean as we could... picked up a bit of trash but there wasn't much. Governor Perry was GREAT! I loved his enthusiasm... Thanks for organizing this event... loved it!!!

I seemed to be a well planed and managed event and the hundreds that I expected grew well past the numbers that the MSM thought would show. The biggest surprise and most encouraging thing to me was the two older hippy chicks that I talked to – I love hippy chicks – were very sorry that they had voted for Obama just because it was the fair thing to do to vote for a black guy. I called every TV station in Austin yesterday morning and not one of them had mentioned that the tea party was going to happen but they said that they were going to cover it. Asking them if they thought that their access to the public air waves made them responsible to tell people about such events before they happen got no response or a dial tone. Thanks to all for the start of a national movement that can help sanity regain the Congress if we work hard as a group.
    •  Excellent speakers, enthusiastic and passionate crowd; important message sent in a festive atmosphere

My husband and I had a great time! We will be back July 4th! I would like to meet some of you next time. We were not sure we'd get to come, so I really didn't communicate that much. I promise to be more active. Sue Schut
    •  It was a great day, full of hard working people standing up and saying no more! There was about 1500 people as best as I could tell. The box above only takes 3 digits so I am listing it here. I hope the movement continues I will always be attending just let me know where.
