The Nordic Center at Lake Elmo is now open daily to park visitors. The building is a place to warm up and relax before and after skiing, snowshoeing or hiking. The building contains modern bathrooms with changing rooms and lockers for use. Bring your own padlocks. Also included is a room with tables and chairs for eating. Benches along the windows and a gas fireplace also make it a warm, convenient spot to view skiers or wait for friends and family. Vending machines offer snack, pop, hot chocolate and coffee choices. Waxing tables, ski racks and a campfire ring with stone benches are available outside the building.
20 kilometers (12.4 miles) of trails are groomed for skate and classic skiing. Five loops, from two to six kilometers in length, vary from easy to more difficult. 8.7 kilometers (5.4 miles) of lighted ski trails begin at the Nordic Center Trailhead. More than 200 LED light fixtures illuminate the Northern Lights, Lake Elmo, and Brown’s Pond loops.
Parking is available at the Eagle Point and Nordic Center Trailhead.
Lights illuminating the Brown’s Pond and Lake Elmo loops will be on until 9:15 p.m. Lights on the Northern Lights loop will be on until 9:45 p.m. All other trails close at dusk.
