The first picture is of our model Sophia.

In this workshop you will learn to shoot with a model and go over the ways a beauty-dish, a silver reflector or a reflector-box can be used. These setups are used a lot in fashion and beauty photography and commercial photography, some of it will have an editorial feel to it.

These hands on sessions always contain a lot of knowledge transfer not only about the light and modifiers but also metering, posing and directing the model.

1. Beauty-dish

The beauty dish is the most commonly used light modifier in beauty photography, and adding flags and reflectors makes it even more usable. Demo of setup and practice with the model.

2. Beauty-box

When adding reflectors we create a great setup that does not cost a lot of lighting or modifier equipment. We are using a single light and reflectors to get an almost shadowless portrait. This is used in product and commercial photography a lot to focus on the products details. The material used in this session will surprise you. Demo of setup and practice with model.

3. Fashion light setup using 2 lights

For a hard fashion light setup we are using 2 strobes. The lighting will be hard and edgy to get the best result. This setup is often used in fashion magazines and is easy to do.

Participants will have time to practice the light setups with the model.

• Prerequisites:
You need to know how to set your camera in manual mode and change Aperture, Shutter-speed and ISO. To have the right white balance please refer to your camera manual and find how to set a custom white balance.

We are triggering the lights with a wireless system, your camera has to have a hot-shoe that can fit a general trigger. Canon and Nikon will fit these triggers. Other brand camera's might have to check with their camera-store. (Sony needs an adapter for sure)

Thanks Klaas for another great class. Sophia was wonderful and it seems we were all able to get some pretty good shots in all the scenes.

Klaas did an excellent job in organizing the meetup, and Sophia is a very experienced and photogenic model who is a joy to work with.

Are you saying that if we have a Sony, we need to also bring an adapter, otherwise it is not worth attending?

    March 22, 2014

    • Klaas

Bill You will not able to fire the studio flash with a wireless trigger because they do not fit a Sony without an adapter. This is a hands on workshop learning by doing so won't be worth attending if you can's shoot.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
