Dress Rehearsal for RENT!

January 9th, 2013

Book, Music and Lyrics Jonathan Larson

Rent follows a year in the life of a group of friends struggling with love, drugs and AIDS. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves, and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.
* A C-R KIDS Production.
Performed entirely by students.

Meet us about 7:45pm. Dress rehearsal starts at 8:00 pm, so please try to arrive prior that to avoid disruption. Late arrivals must the stairs as elevator is generally turned off, and to avoid disruption to the performers.

Since this is a dress rehearsal, we are free to move about the music hall, but don't want to be disruptive to the performers and any patrons viewing the performance.

Please send copies of your images asap to your organizer Angela at [masked] or directly to Tony Rivera, Managing Director at [masked]. Submission of your images is optional but greatly appreciated. Tony sincerely appreciates all of the images sent by our group and will use them on the CMH website, facebook page and for promotion and/or printing purposes. Your logo/watermark/copyright addition is at your discretion ( add it or not, it's up to you) but Tony will provide proper credit to each photographer. Thank You.

There will be a $10 meetup donation per person. If paying by check, make it payable to C-R Productions.

Please check the waiting list an hour or two prior to event, as I may be able update your RSVP to YES, but cannot guarantee. I have a somewhat stupid question. This will be my first meetup and I have never been to the CMH. Where do we meet and who should I look for?

      I'm pretty sure that like Canon, Nikon makes a super cheap 50mm prime lens that opens up to at least f/2.8 or wider. Canon makes one for $100. Read your manual though, there are limited auto focus points that are sensitive enough for large apertures.

      Yep. Nikon does and people love it. I'm going to look an my manual and decide.

    I also need a different lens to be able to open up wide enough. The kid lens didn't cut it for the most part. I enjoyed watching the dress rehearsal and AM motivated to get another lens.

    Well, one thing was made very clear to me during this shoot. My camera is in desperate need of an upgrade. It struggles to focus properly in low light, even with an f/1.8 lens, and anything above ISO 400 is unacceptably noisy.

    Tremendous. I haven't been around local theater for years and they are as good as any I have seen.

    I'm not feeling well.....so I'm staying home tonight. Janet is kind enough to collect donations from the group.

    Tips: shoot manually, set your iso (400-800+)and fstop (wide open) and just adjust your shutter speed according to that main spot light. IT WILL BLOW OUT YOUR MAIN PERFORMER if you're not careful and quick to adjust. It takes practice and you cannot expect to end up with a zillion great shots. Find me if you need help. Since the performers are moving you want to make sure you ss is fast enough to keep them sharp. 1/125+ but don't fall below 1/60 would be my recommendation

    The "fee" Steve Blais, is a donation to CMH as stated in the details.
