Hey all--we're adding a weekend edition of last week's gathering. Hope you can join us!
"Shame for women is a web of unattainable conflicting and competing expectations about who we should be. And it's a straightjacket." -Dr. Brene Brown
In the past, I've let the "enoughs" and the "shoulds" echo in my mind and control my actions. Like Brene Brown mentioned, shame can manifest in our lives and control what you think and how you engage with others.
Understanding our shame (whether it's unconscious or we have self-awareness) helps us become more vulnerable and make more informed, heart-lead steps. During our next tea+purpose, we'll be digging through the amazing Brene Brown's work on shame and how it affects our lives as women and young professionals.
Make sure you bring your notebook along for the ride...it's going to be a dynamic discussion.
NEED MORE REASONS TO JOIN US ON MAY 4TH?
• You'll receive curated content about understanding and processing areas of our lives that drive shame and how that influences all areas of our lives.
• You'll enjoy a sandwich, pastry and tea from Press Tea. Their teas are out-of-this-world.
• 5% from each ticket will be donated to She's the First, a nonprofit focused on sponsoring girls' education in the developing world. We've raised $180 for She's the First to date!
At Tea+Purpose we share our stories, our struggles, and connect over topics that affect our personal growth. Each month we connect over a topic area that will allow us to create more awareness and action in our lives.
We seek to become a community of people who are in genuine pursuit of ourselves. We believe no one needs to live up to standards set by media, “authority”, or the crowd. We believe that positive conversations are oh-so-important to self-development and growth, which is why we are fostering them in our own way. All over a delicious, warm cup of tea or two.
Ready? There’s no pre-reqs. No skills required other than a ready heart & mind. Fuel up with us.
A couple of quick notes:
