Tea-to-Go with a ROMwalk--Yorkville

SUBWAY CLOSURE ALERT FOR Sept 7: The Yonge line will be closed between Lawrence and Bloor. Shuttle buses will be running. Please allow plenty of time to get to the meetup spot.  For more information, go to

Tea Lovers:

It's time for us to get outside and enjoy our Toronto surroundings.

How about we all go on another ROMwalk?

Grab your tea-to-go and let's head to:

"Yorkville, once a satellite Tollgate village, became part of Toronto. It has managed to maintain an individual identity, despite being totally engulfed by the city and its changing commercial life."

Walk is free of charge and takes place rain or shine. Approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours long.

Registration via the ROM is not required.

Starting Point:  Yorkville Public Library (next to the Firehall...north of the Bloor/Yonge Station)." (Above from the ROMwalk web site.)

Please wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothes.

I was with the second group which had a big turnout. Luck was on our side where weather was concerned. The walk was at a comfortable pace. Our Tour Guide was a font of knowledge about Yorkville's history and the architecture of the buildings that he pointed out along the way. He was also humorous, patient and tactful in reminding us not to stand in the road. I took quite a few photos, which I will post this weekend. Thanks Amy for hosting the event and taking us to the cafe for refreshments afterwards. I had fun and look forward to attending more events in the future.

I don’t know exactly how many attended from our Group but overall there was a huge turnout for the walk, so much so that we were split into 2 Groups for the Tour. The weather was perfect and our Tour Guide extremely knowledgeable about both the history of the area and the architecture of the buildings we saw. Afterward 6 of us went to a Café on Avenue Rd. north of Bloor for drinks and food. I took several photos which I’ll be posting either later today or on Tues. This was a great 1st Event for me w/the Group and I look forward to attending more. Thanks for hosting, Amy.

I also want to thank Amy for the hard work in organizing the meetup today and suggesting the market place afterwards. I know first hand how challenging it is organize a group when they are also others joining us from outside the meetup.

A very informative way to spend the lovely afternoon. The walk was at a nice, easy pace. I really didn't get that tired.

David is a very knowledgeable guide and found interesting ways to remind us not to stand in the road. Great weather to be outside.

Hello Amy: My friend Cornelia and I were today at the Yorkville Public Library on time; however, we did not see you. We met Richard while we were looking for you, and he told us the same. Was this meet up cancelled today? We saw another 3 groups more ,with the leaders holding a purple umbrella, but none of them was you. I even asked that crowd about the Tea-to-Go with a ROM walk-Yorkville; however, nobody knew what I was asking for. ???

Sorry that we missed each other. Most of us stayed with the last leader, who seemed to be the senior guide/organizer, so our group was the very last ones to leave the Library. Hope you enjoyed the walk.

Also, I can not do the July walk date as it's my bday. MARIA--We will be doing afternoon tea in another direction in Sept.. Stay tuned. :) How about a brunch suggestion in that area?
