Given the size of the room, we will break into two groups
* Advanced Algo / Data-structures and Problem Solving
* Design / System Design
Please suggest interview questions we can discuss.

Do we have a place/forum to post algo/ds questions and discussion ?

Yes. Discussions >> Message Board.

Missed it due to illness. Could you post the Coding and Algo questions ?
thanks in advanceSaket

The algorithms group discussed a question on how to keep track of the top 100 trending hash tags on Twitter, if you are Twitter.

Hope you guys had a great time. I was not well, so couldn't make it. Looking forward to meeting many of you on Monday.
Found this page to be useful and wanted to share..

thanx for sharing this .
I posted some comments on Morris traversal . It is a pretty simple algorithm - any coders want to post the solution. http://www.meetup.com/techinterviews/messages/boards/thread/40366382/#[masked]

Great discussion that went from Basic to Design questions

Unfortunately, I'm not able to attend todays meetup but will try to attend Monday. Here are some thoughts on preparing for SDET code interviews.
SUGGESTED TOPICS:* For each of the group's coding examples include a discussion about a test plan and test cases to verify the code
* Cover coding questions that are used for both dev and SDET interviews. The GlassDoor link below posts many recent SDET questions (some with answers). I'll compile a list of them which the group can add to and review for areas of common interest. I'll try to post the list in the next few days.
Design Patterns are one thing I would like to discus sometime.

Absolutely, do you have a few you want to cover? If you can list some, I can come prepared with a few interview questions that are designed to use them.
Let us try singleton, observer and dispatcher
Thanks for your replies. I plan on attending tomorrow and on the 16th. I'll give some thought to possible topics for future sessions.

I'm an SDET looking for work. Will there be an opportunity for some discussion about how SDET coding interviews are like and not like basic coding and algorithm coding interviews?
I'm looking forward to joining the group tomorrow. Thanks.

Fair question, we have been primarily focusing on SDE/Coding/Algorithms/Design sort of questions. I am a Quality Assurance Manager at Amazon :), and I am sure we have other folks here with experience and expertise. We can cover test strategy, test methodology, and test frameworks in one of our sessions. Feel free to recommend topics.
If you're looking for practice on testing questions, we can cover that in one of these meetups (though maybe not necessarily this week). If you're looking for a general discussion on what the differences are between SDE and SDET when it comes to interviewing, that is actually a great question for our event on Dec. 16th.
Updated the class to 3hrs and 15 minutes. We will postpone the Paid class for another day.

Will it be ok to arrive late or would that likely not be useful? Will it be possible to get in to the room if arriving late? (I'll be over in Seattle til 5pm, at this: http://coderetreat.or..., and can't get there til close to the original start time.) Thanks!
It will be possible to get into the room. The meetup is possibly still useful if you arrive late, though you will miss introductions and might be confused at first when jumping into the middle of a discussion.
All in all, I would definitely encourage you to come even if you arrive late.
So, no luck making the meetup longer than 2 hours?

That would be a great idea. Or we can have a session on Sunday too. But lot depends on availability of organizers and the room.
2 days in a row isn't likely to happen. We did previously discuss the possibility of a longer meetup, which is why I asked.

Still exploring the option of extending the room, should know soon
Done / Done and Done :)
I was really hoping to make it this time to go over algorithms and data structures, but the new start time conflicts with existing obligations. Any chance that you'll be saving the algorithms/data structures part of the discussion for the second half?
Chris, Please join us for the Design discussion / Advanced Algo session. Can you make sure you talk to either me (Vivek) or Rahul, about your schedule. We are planning on trying different time slots (weekday-evenings), weekend mornings etc. to see which works best.
Do I need to bring a laptop?
Not required. It isn't beneficial in the algorithms or design patterns group. In the basic coding group (not sure if that will be happening this week), it might sometimes be useful, but is definitely not required, since most of the coding is whiteboard coding.
This week, we will not have the basic coding group. Laptops not necessary. I recommend bringing it for the Basic Coding question sessions (future weeks).
For Design/System Design - I plan to ask a) Design a Personal Appointment System (ability to schedule meetings at 15 minute increments). Requirement is to detect collision at the time of scheduling to prevent double/triple scheduling. b) Design a class hierarchy for a vector image manipulation software that can draw a point, line, polygon and ellipse in various colors (outline and filled), with varying line thickness.

Is it only for people preparing actively for interviews?
Not at all. It's for anyone looking to discuss technical interviews, sharpen their technical interviewing skills, or share their expertise with others.
I am sorry, but I cannot make it to this meetup due to having to pick up our son at SeaTac at 8:00 p.m. He is flying home from college for a couple of weeks to visit during the Christmas break.
Hello, my name is Steven. Are you going to be having other workshop days? I will be out of town this coming weekend so I will not be able to make it.
Hi Steven, we meet every Saturday to discuss interview questions. We will have monthly seminar-type sessions on various topics (Dec 16 is on Interview Modalities). We also have paid class on core data structure topics (12/14 is Graphs). - Thanks

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
