Innovation Series - Local i-phone/Mobile Innovation & Development

Important! If you attend this event, please use the directions below to find the location!

You don’t have to go to California to meet smart and talented technologists! Our community is budding with innovative people who are changing the face of technology around the world! Please join us as we present the first in a series of innovation events celebrating Columbus talent, Local i-phone/Mobile Innovation & Development. This event will feature three individuals who work in the i-phone/mobile space every day. Walk away with an understanding of our local mobile development movement, i-phone development, incubation opportunities, some resources to help you start or develop your own application, and answers from the experts who have moved from idea to reality.

Willie Neumann, owner of Willie Neumann Co., will be sharing helpful information about the newly formed pilot program 14ninetytwo, including an early-stage virtual incubator providing business formation, mentoring and coaching resources as well as access to pre-seed capital for selected web solution or mobile applications. 14ninetytwo is managed by Willie and funded by Ohio’s Third Frontier and TechColumbus. It provides avenues for entrepreneurs to successfully bring the idea from concept to market.

Adam Winter, a partner of Joe Metric, will share “Joe’s” experience while working to develop their own i-phone application called Joe Coupon. Adam will highlight the journey of an incubated company, the post-incubation experience, obstacles and challenges of the development process and provide ideas to help you become successful with your mobile application.

Jon Myers is a founding partner of Do Media and a partner of JUFTI, a social gaming company. Jon will share JUFTI’s experience developing a social game (Corn Hole), the importance of having a unique angle in your product development and the elements of JUFTI’s social marketing strategies aimed to create successful interest and sales.
Our experts will enjoy answering your questions to make this event more meaningful for you.

Prior to this event, The Dublin Entrepreneurial Center (The DEC) will host a jelly, or co-working, complete with complimentary office space, wi-fi and networking opportunities. The jelly runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

I was unaware of all the assistance that's available here in Ohio to help a new tech firm get their business off the ground. This session did a great job of explain that. It was also very helpful to hear from a couple of people on the challenges they faced and the process they went through to establish their businesses. Great session! It's terrific we have people in town that are leading the way in putting sessions like this together.

Excellent stuff. A good non-technical presentation about how local mobile app developers got started. Very successful speakers.
  • Matt Anderson
I expected more discussion around iPhone app development. Jon Myers' talk was most like what I was looking for overall. I appreciated Willie's intro to 14ninetytwo, but it wasn't totally appropriate for this meetup (shorter talk time, maybe) Bottom line...all was good info, but was looking for more focus around the lifecycle, trials/tribulations, etc, associated specifically with the iPhone platform.

Great lessons on what startups might face if they choose to go the iPhone development route: what was challenging, what was different about the iPhone path vs other paths. Expected a little more techie info, instead the focus was on the biz side, but it was nevertheless quite useful info and experiences.
