DEC Presents...HR Essentials Day (8:30am--1:30pm)

Position descriptions, health insurance, and payroll oh my! Let's face it, there are so many aspects of human resources, it's difficult to know where to start and when. Let the experts at the DEC Presents...HR Essentials Day make it a little easier for you. Each session covers "the essentials," to get you started on managing your developing human resources needs. Each session is informative so attend one or stay for the whole day! This event is offered FREE of charge with a lite breakfast and full lunch provided.

*"Written Policies, Agreements, and Job Descriptions," with Jessica Coleman, Employer's Resource Association (8:30am--9:15am). During this session, we’ll discuss the importance of policies and job descriptions, identify potential policy areas such as sick leave, vacation, and social media, and finally highlight key differences between policies and agreements. Jessica Coleman is a Learning and Development Consultant at Employers Resource Association (ERA). ERA is your single source for HR advice, training, legal updates, news and information.


*"Small Business Payroll Issues," with Michael Horigan Paychex
(9:15am--10:00am). In this session, presenter Michael Horigan discusses many of the rapid changes happening in the world of payroll and how these changed effect the business owner. We will discuss the basic responsibilities of the business owner when hiring an employee, incentives available to help lower payroll cost, and how to stay compliant with the IRS. I also will show the business owner where to find the resources they will use as their business grows.


*"Workers' Comp Basics for Small Business," with Scott Herd, CompManagement Inc. (10:00am--10:45am). In Ohio, any employer that has one or more employees is required to have Workers Compensation coverage. Please join us in a discussion about: Who needs coverage and how to obtain it. Who are the players in the Workers Comp system. How do discount programs work? And finally, how do transfers and acquisitions work in Ohio Workers Compensation.Scott Herd, an Account Executive from CompManagement Inc., a Dublin based Third Party Administrator, will be presenting.
