Fuse Factory workshop: Databending and Glitch Art

Date: Saturday, October 5
Location: It Looks Like Its Open (13 E. Tulane, Columbus OH 43202)
Time: 11am – 2pm
Instructor: Jon Satrom
Fee: $35 for one; $60 for two

Glitches can be alarming. Glitches can be elusive. Glitches can be bewitching.

A glitch presents a moment loaded with potential to uncover various systems at play… From crashed ATMs to network hiccups; glitches expose the underbelly of technologies often taken for granted. This workshop will probe acts of intentionally glitching digital files. Databending is the practice of employing a series of home-brew techniques to exploit, corrupt and bend data. Learn about glitch artists who endlessly explore kludgy processes for messily manipulating the digital realm. Experiment with wild techniques and formalized artwares. Join Jon Satrom as he shares techniques for tickling your computer until it barfs.

Registrants are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop. No specific software is required to be installed, and no previous experience in programming or breaking your computer on purpose is required.

To reserve a space in the workshop, please visit the Fuse Factory's workshop page:
