If you are doing any development that involves JavaScript you don't want to miss this presentation. I know Justin is working with JavaScript for quite sometime and uses tdd for JavaScript.
Only yesterday, an experienced candidate told me in an interview that "JavaScript is just a scripting language, because it is not object-oriented." All-too-common is the perception that JavaScript is a second-rate toy language that is only suffered by "real" developers because no alternatives are available to web clients. While these misperceptions have dissipated greatly among highly engaged developers, the industry has been exceptionally slow to catch up.
Along with the bright minds of the Columbus polyglot group, I'd like to briefly discuss these questions:
• What has led to the misperception that JavaScript code is somehow lesser than other languages.
• What refutations can be offered to make plain that highly disciplined JavaScript development practices are important?
• What impact has the ubiquity of dynamic web applications and highly evolved frameworks had on JavaScript being taken seriously? (Or rather, why haven't these been enough?)
• What tools are available to facilitate TDD & continuous integration of JavaScript code? In spite of the numerous options available, what has hampered their adoption?
• What's trending in this space? What conversations will people be having with respect to JavaScript craftsmanship next year and beyond?
