Google Glassians in Ohio!

The group is for individuals and teams currently involved or interested in developing for Google Glass. This group is also for Google Glass users, enthusiasts and those who are simply curious to learn about this new wave of wearable technology. Google Glass Explorers, Glass & Android developers, and the interested-in-trying-it-on are welcome!

Here is the long-term plan for this group -

1. Satisfy Curiosity – Although Google is rolling out a bigger explorer program right now, many of us are still wondering to find a way to get one. Many technocrats want to try them first, before committing $1500 for it. This meetup will have an opportunity to see them first hand and try out a few things.. and possibly find a way to get one!

2. Brainstorm & Implement Ideas - This meetup group is created for the most innovative developers and entrepreneurs to get together and discuss & create amazing things with Google Glass, the Mirror API, and GDK. We want to brainstorm new ideas and eventually follow through them till completion. This meetup will provide platform to find not only your next big ideas, but also your future project members!

3. Connect Google Glass Ohioans – There is currently no group in existence in Ohio that connects Google Glass owners. If nothing else, this group will at least provide a medium to connect with fellow Google Glass Ohioans.

We are planning to have monthly meetings on the same day and time, such as second Tuesday. Our first meeting will be on February 11, 2014 evening. We are still looking for place to host. For this initial kick-off meeting, we’ll follow the below agenda, and hopefully come up with more ideas for the upcoming meetups.

5:30 – 6:00 – Meet, greet, and eat

6:00 – 6:15 – Welcome, introductions, and agenda

6:15 – 6:45 – Google Glass Hands On

6:45 – 7:00 – Meetup group logistics

7:00 – 7:30 – “Picks, Tips, and Protips” and then wrap-up.

If you already have some ideas for Glassware, or have something to showcase, please let us know and we’ll add you to our agenda! Reach us at twitter @GoogleGlassOhio or here. Keep visiting this site for updates in agenda and look for formal meetup creation.

From Google Glass Pioneers to everyday tweeters who dream #ifihadglass, everyone is welcome. Hope to see you in February!

P.S.

If you want to host this or future meetings, please DM us @GoogleGlassOhio

If you have Google Glass, please bring it with you. Also, tweet/DM us so we know how many Google Glasses we’ll have for this meeting.

Always looking for some extra help in organizing meetups and running this group. Please tweet/DM us or introduce yourselves in our first meeting if you’d like to help.

Here's the link to Society of Glass Enthusiasts in Ohio community that has a lot of Glass Explorers from Ohio! https://plus.google.com/app/basic/communities/111530836906759936627 If you are even the slightest bit enthusiastic about Google Glass, please join. I'm still trying to find all the Glass users and if you know someone who is not on this list, who is a Glass user, please invite them to join this group. I've already sent some invites to users that I was able to find on Google+

Can't make it tonight. But, wanted to share... I found Tiberiu Ungureanu, he is the guy taken out of the theater by the the Feds for wearing Glass. He's got a really busy schedule; but hope to schedule a GDG meetup with him in a month or two. Best regards!

There's a G+ group that I started "Society of Glass Enthusiasts (SoGE) in Ohio". I'm aware of at least 5 of the members who will be attending tomorrow. We all have Glass.

Looking forward to tomorrow's meetup! Today I came across this great list of community-developed apps for Glass. Check it out--there's some great stuff in there!

Does anyone know the person that got questioned by the Feds for wearing Glass at AMC Easton? Would love to hear from him at this meetup and/or have him come to the Google Developer Group and share his experience. It made the national news! Way to go Glass wearers in Columbus!

    • Parva T.

Yeah, I read this story, but seems like that person is still unidentified. Hopefully he'll catch this meetup information from twitter or meetup and showup in February :-)

We are about three weeks away from our first meetup! Please spread the word out to your groups/followers/friends or any Google Glass enthusiasts whom you come across. I am trying to find a sponsor to provide pizzas and drinks. Let me know if you know someone.

Last year, in 2013, the productization team @eSolutech created this Google glass app:

    http://glasscoin.eSolutech.com

It's an app to monitor Bitcoin ticker with Google glass. Feel free to try and share it with everyone else. Let's welcome 2014 and embrace the new evolution of wearable tech!

    Thanks

    Hi Brad and Chris!
    Brad, I tweeted!
Chris - I'm interested. I'd love to be able to bring the technology hands on to the classes I teach at Franklin.

On another topic (aside from location of the event), Buckeye Interactive is in the Explorer program, so we will be bringing one Glass to the event.

And... We have one invite left for the Glass Explorer program (though you still have to buy the device). If you want it, tweet us @BuckeyeWebDev TODAY with what you would do with Glass, and we will pick one winner. We're giving away the invite by the end of the day today (Friday 12/20).

We can meet in Buckeye Interactive's building at the Inc@8000 in New Albany, 8000 Walton Pkwy., Suite 200. Let me know if you would like me to reserve the event space.
