IT Martini Hour 4: Celebrating this DIVERSE CITY

What’s so great about the IT Community in Columbus? It’s diverse: IT Pros have backgrounds that span cultures, genders, and generations. The theme of IT Martini Hour 4: Spring Break-Through is diversity, with the goal of exploring how different backgrounds impact success.

And in the spirit of diversity, we’re excited to announce that IT Martini Hour 4 has a fund raising goal of $5000 for Columbus charities TECH CORPS Ohio and the King Arts Complex! In addition to the usual IT Martini Hour activities that include networking, start-ups, senior leader speakers, awards, and refreshments - YOU have the opportunity to support these great causes.

Some interesting notes about TECH CORPS Ohio: Their mission is to bring technology skills and resources to students here in Ohio, through a network of volunteers. Did you know that by the year 2010, jobs in the technical and mathematical fields are expected to increase by 67%? TECH CORPS Ohio is addressing these future challenges one student at a time.

And about the King Arts Complex: It opened in 1987 in the King-Lincoln district after a significant restoration project. Today it’s a Columbus original that’s home to diverse experiences that range from performance art, to cultural programs and exhibitions, to capturing the historical contributions of African Americans to the world.

IT Martini Hour 4: Spring Break-Through is scheduled for Thursday, April 9th at the Bar of Modern Art (BOMA)! A huge thanks to the IT Martini Hour 4 sponsors, who make this event possible: Quick Solutions, Donna & Michelle from Coldwell Banker King Thompson, MindLeaders, CBTS, and Technology for Ohio’s Tomorrow.

Hope to see you there!

I had a good experience at what is the 2nd IT Martini Hour that I've attended, with the exception of the Live Band. It was way too loud for a networking event, and caused a number of us to go out onto the open patio. Up until the point, it was easier to network than at the event I attended in December -- background music was played at that event, and it was too loud, but not as loud as the band at this event. It was also still difficult to get everyone's attention for the prizes, but overall, thought this event was less distracting and more focused on networking than the December Event. But do not think there should be a live band, unless it's more calming -- like Jazz or Classical and not as loud and distracting.
