meetup 5 - Harmony

18:45 - 19:15
- Gathering / Networking / Schmoozing

1st talk - Tal Raviv: Ecquire - a whole company in a Chrome extension

http://ecquire.com/

Equire is a strartup with an non traditional product, a chrome extention (AFAICT it's a data scaraper for business information) so obviusly they build their front-end in JS, but also have some interesting stories about back-end dev.

2nd talk - Limor Lahiani: on{X} - automate your life

on{x} by MSR

a web and mobile app that exposes the device triggers and actions through javascript APIs. Once you downloaded
on{X} app, you can use the website to create new experiences by creating javascript rules and pushing them on the device. For example, you can write a javascript rule to automatically send a text message with your current location, whenever your wife tests you 'where?'.

The lectures and mini-lecture were quite nice, but Ecquire's lecture really had some zing to it. Also, while on{x} is impressive technologically, you got the gist of it quite quickly, so it could really have been more focused.

+1 for Rotem!!! Would love to hear about that. If there's room for one more, I can give a blitz talk about Spine.js for mobile

Religious evangelism, you say? I'll talk about Ruby then :-)

Seriously, though: the title for my 5min presentation is: (introduction to) "Front-End Development Tools in the Ruby Ecosystem"

Posted some more info on the talks.
I'm still looking for someone to give a 5min blitz presentation (about anything. I might even consider religius evangilism...)

    @Eli,
Meetup seems to be consistently sending invitations in the wrong time zone for events in Israel since we switched to daylight savings time ("summer clock"), so I'm guessing you should be there at 19:00...

  • Eli M.

The invitation says "17:45" (which sounds great), meetup says "18:45", and the agenda "19:00" (not a little late?).
    So what's the truth?
In any case, thanks everybody, especially lecturers and host and also for changing the date!

We should probably reschedule as May 27th is a holiday (Shavuot). What do you think?
