This hatha-vinyasa yoga class will provide you with a safe and supported space to connect to your breath while moving through a carefully crafted sequence of yoga poses. Modifications and layers for each yoga pose will be offered, making this class accessible, yet still challenging, to students at any level of experience. By turning your attention to your breath, your mind and body will find a quiet place to cultivate focus and balance. The physical practice will aid in keeping your thoughts present while building your body awareness and physical strength, enabling you to discover a deeper harmony within your body, mind and spirit.
Classes will begin with light meditation and breath work in order to quiet down the distractions in your mind. Intentions will be set for your practice and we will gently warm up the spine with sun salutations and move into standing poses to stretch into your extremities. This class will include core-strengthening, detoxifying twists, standing balances and spine strengthening poses. Specific verbal cues will safely align your body in each pose and hands-on adjustments can be provided. Our practice will end with a lengthy savasana, with ample time and space to reflect and soak up the benefits of your practice. A light massage with the use of essential oils will be provided as well, if desired.
~ Please bring your yoga mat, wear comfortable clothing to move in and come hydrated. You may also bring water to sip on throughout our practice. ~
Michelle is inspired by the transformation of her students at any level of their yoga practice. Her desire is to provide a safe place to guide others to slow down their breath to find calm in the mind so they may more clearly tune into their intentions and desires. She has found clarity in her mind and spirit and has become more focused on her path since discovering her yoga practice in 2008. She has also cultivated strength, flexibility and control within her physical body and continues to be in awe of all that yoga has to offer any practitioner.
Since completing her Yoga Alliance 200-hour RYT certification through CorePower Yoga in 2010, Michelle is also certified to teach restorative yoga and children's yoga. She currently teaches hatha-vinyasa and restorative classes at yoga studios around Los Angeles, within the community, in the workplace, to at-risk youth and private one-on-one sessions. She has experience with teaching class sizes ranging from one to thirty students and is excited for any opportunity to provide an opportunity for positive change through yoga.
