SPIRITUALISTS ANONYMOUS: Exploring Alternative Spirituality in Sobriety

Spiritualists Anonymous: Exploring Alternative Spirituality in Sobriety

The Spiritual Principles of 12 step programs outline a way of living in sobriety that is joyful, conscious and intentional. They give us a life supported by self-awareness, personal accountability, responsible action and spiritual connection. They are a way of approaching life (ways of being, doing, thinking, believing, behaving), and engaging in life to move us toward our Authentic Self. This awareness and connection with the Universe (AKA spiritual fitness) can be the difference between being an alcoholic person living a sober life, to a sober person living a full life. That means living free from fear, obsession or limitations.

The purpose of this group is to help individuals in recovery (or those seeking sobriety) to find a deeper spiritual connection, and experience the serenity that this connection brings. Each week we will focus on, learn about and discuss a different spiritual principle of sobriety, then share in a spiritual practice to integrate into our lives to help us connect to that principle.

These practices may include:
•  Guided Meditations
•  Daily rituals
•  Healing circles
•  Shamanic Journeys
•  Breathing exercises
•  Crystal grids
•  Creating magical objects
•  And more

These tools are not only for solving the substance problem, they can be applied to any and all of life's issues.

A regular spiritual practice can allow you to identify and remove blocks from your life making it easier to heal the past and create a present that is based in Love. It also helps you to gain a tighter connection to your guides and the Universe for increased hope and trust, raise your level of peace and serenity by giving you a boost in confidence and self awareness, break old negative cycles and balance past karma by grounding you in the present. These principles teach us new behaviors that work to shift our perspectives. They teach us how to accept life on Life’s terms and turn any situation into a positive experience.

The problem of addiction is a spiritual one, and so is the answer. This is why a happy sober life, depends on looking after your spiritual health. This spirituality can come in any form, as unique as the person who seeks it. We do not discuss religion or personal religious beliefs; we will simply focus on general spiritual principles that are based upon the 12 steps of the recovery. We will learn how to integrate them into our daily lives for a greater ease and quality of living. This class gladly welcomes anyone in any stage of sobriety or just thinking about moving into a substance free life.

Grateful and respectful of her own transformative journey, Kristie Marie knows first hand that creating the life you are meant for and getting to know your Authentic Self may be a bit uncomfortable at times. Yet, she also knows the incredible joy that rewards you if you choose to persevere. "I myself used these techniques and principles in a time when things looked hopeless, and continue to practice them today for continued growth and well being. In learning and applying these principles within my everyday life, I was not only able to restore hope, but to build a reality beyond my wildest dreams.”

I also want to make something absolutely clear before I close. A spiritual practice alone, without work specifically for addiction, is not enough. This workshop is NOT meant to be a substitute or replacement for working a 12 step program or any other suggested action given by counselors or medical professionals. This is also not a 12 step meeting but the ideas we discuss are based on the 12 steps. This class is meant to be complimentary to your existing recovery program and/or treatment. My hope is that you may integrate the spiritual principles of sobriety into your daily life. With regular practice you may come to use them effortlessly in creating a life of happiness, peace and sobriety. This is NOT a process of becoming perfect or pure!!! This is about becoming the Authentic You. It's about highlighting the wonderfully unique things that make you an individual. So join me as you connect yourself, body mind and soul, and move towards the Authentic You and the life you deserve!
