Ken, I am one of those who feel Brengle is a bit too far. I will try when I can. Sorry.

I have a couple of beautiful courts in Encinitas if anyone wants to play with me tomorrow, or at anytime at all, please let me know.

Regarding notification, re-register using your first and last name, then I can find you in the data base. As it is, there are several Johns, and I can’t tell which, if any, is you. Sometimes the program drops people because they haven’t responded to the invites. That could be what happened.

Ken,

What part of rebellion didn’t you understand?  I left you a voicemail last Saturday morning telling you most of the troops who came to Brengle Terrace that day decided they didn’t like not having enough courts and were going to meet on the YMCA courts in Oceanside I believe.  In any case, we only had one court at first.  Then, a second court opened, and three of us plus a pick-up from another group warmed up and then played one set.  Nam left at that point, which ended the doubles competition on that court for our group.  I think the time was about 9:15 AM.  I lingered a bit, but soon left because there were apparently no possibilities to play.  I can’t see getting up early and going through all the preparation and travel to play one set.  Consequently, I didn’t go to Brengle Terrace last Sunday nor today and don’t plan to be there tomorrow unless you can convince me it’s worth the bother.

I think playing later is a great idea because I’ve several times seen the courts largely empty after about 10 or 10:30 AM.  However, many people in your group seem to prefer coming early and leaving about 10 AM.  So, I doubt many of your group will want to play from about 10 AM or so for several hours.  Apparently, your early birds aren’t alone, which is why the courts are packed early and largely empty after about 10:30 AM.  The situation was similar at the CHS courts.

Another downside is only a handful of players who were regulars at the Carlsbad courts have ever come to Brengle Terrace regularly.  I know a couple players said it was too far for them, but I haven’t a clue as to why others haven’t come.

Also, as I’ve told you, I haven’t received the regular notifications of your meetup in several weeks.  I just checked my computer, and everything seems OK insofar as my account is concerned.  Perhaps some people don’t even know about the meetups at Brengle Terrace.  Speaking of Terrace, what happened to Terry, a long-term member of your group until we could no longer play at CHS?  She’s one of many of your group who have never played at Brengle Terrace so far as I know.

We need more people to come out to Brengle Terrace. This morning we had 3 courts open, but not enough people to keep them all. Also, if you don’t want to come at 8:00 AM, come at 10:00 or 10:30 AM. All the other players have cleared out by then and you can have your choice of courts.

Hope to see you on the courts,

Ken Hawkins
